Lol, I hear about Miami’s scheme all of the time. Fan boys said that TJ didn’t fit Miami’s scheme.... that must be because Miami’s scheme doesn’t include getting sacks. TJ will end up with more sacks this year than Harris will in his short career. Complete failure on Miami’s part.

Gase is guru

So you don’t understand that a 34 OLB and 43 DE are pretty different positions?

Sure, maybe T.J. could’ve come here and retooled his game a little bit to play on the line. Or maybe turn into a 43 sam... but uhhhh yeah....

He’s a good player no doubt

If you can play OLB in odd front, you can play DE in most schemes. It's vice versa that it doesn't always apply.

6'4", 250 pounds is 6'4", 250 pounds. All you're doing as a DE in the Wide 9 is getting as deep as the QB as fast as possible anyway.

In order to get sacks and finish on the quarterback as an outside rusher, you have to get your feet and hips aligned with the pocket. In other words, you have to be able to get your feet and hips perpendicular to the line of scrimmage in order to flatten to the quarterback. The ability to do this is what separates guys who can finish from the one's who can't. You can't evaluate pass rushers without this knowledge.

All the Wide 9 does in theory is help you get your feet and hips perpendicular to the LOS quicker as an outside rusher. That's why it's incredibly poor for a DE to not be able to finish from that alignment.

The point is that Miami has failed from the top down. Harris was a horrible pick and would have still been on the board in the second round. Gase has a voice in who is picked. They got cute and thought they knew something everyone else didn’t.
