The Chiefs just acquired him from the Saints for an undisclosed future draft pick.

Score one for the Saints here. Any time you can sign a free agent and flip him off for a draft pick in the same off season, you just got away with something.

I don't think Miami was ever seriously interested in a trade. I think, like Drew Rosenhaus recently said on Sports Xtra, that Miami is out of the trading business for now.

We'll be scanning the waiver wires like everyone else I think.

Here are a list of guys who COULD get cut due to numbers games around the league...that I would pay attention to:

Noah Herron (GB)
Joe Burns (BUF)
Anthony Thomas (BUF)
Lee Suggs (CLE)
William Green (CLE)
Antowain Smith (HOU)
Jamal Robertson (CAR)
Nick Goings (CAR)
Damian Anderson (ARI)
Terry Jackson (SF)

The only one on your list that really does anything for me is Lee Suggs. He's the only one who I see as an upgrade to what we already have.....and I've gone on record that we could use an upgrade.

We have Sammy Morris guys!

Holy crap!!! When did we get him?!?!?! :goof:

Some people think that we still could use some help there, despite having an all-world runner like Sammy Morris.

I dunno dude. We have Travis Minor, Kay-Jay Harris, and Gerald Riggs Jr. fighting for one, maybe even two roster spots.

Heck, some teams roster 6 running backs...and those would constitute the final 3 of our 6 backs. I doubt we keep 6, I think 5 is more in order...possibly even 4.

But the light never turned on for Kay-Jay Harris and at some point we're going to have to admit he went UDFA for a reason...and Gerald Riggs really hasn't been all that impressive at camp so far. I think any of the guys named have something to offer the team, either contributing as a ball carrier or as a special teamer.

man if nick goings gets cut that would be a serious consideration for me from carolina he proved he can step up and deffinantly would be an upgrade on morris it would be perfect to get him but i dont really see him getting cut considering foster is injury prone and their draft pick as of yet unproven

ok, this whole bennett thing, i don't care....he is about as durable as wet paper.

I'm confident in morris. I am also pulling for Harris, who could definately be used as a punishing-type back.

I also like Jamal Robertson out of Carolina. I thought he's really shown somethin when he had the chance...and I know the coaches think highly of him.

They have a log jam there. Brad Hoover is clearly their fullback but after that they have Deshaun Foster, DeAngelo Williams, Eric Shelton (2nd rounder spent most of 2005 injured), Nick Goings, and Jamal Robertson. That would be five tailbacks and one fullback. I think that's too many.

You're right. I was more thinking of an upgrade to Morris as a potential long-term replacement for Ronnie if he goes down. But a lot of those guys could improve the overall depth at the position if Harris or Riggs don't step up in the preseason.

Yeah this isn't about Sammy Morris anymore. This is about Travis Minor, Kay-Jay Harris, and Gerald Riggs Jr.

Riggs is a UDFA hasn't shown much so far. Kay-Jay and Minor are good special teams guys but Kay-Jay hasn't shown much ability yet when it comes to taking handoffs...and Minor is barely workable doing the same.

The question isn't would you rather have any of the guys I named over Sammy Morris, the question is would you rather have them over Travis Minor.
