Crabtree and Spikes would make nice week 2 tier 2 free agent acquisitions. They would fill huge voids on our team. We also need a number 2 QB ( Matt Moore or Matt Flynn), OG and Safety (Stevie Brown).

Not sure how much we intend to fill in free agency. If we let Clay walk we will obviously have $20+ million to spend then another $3 million after June 1 (Wheeler).

I really like all the moves we have made so far. Took some cap hit on the Ellerbe trade but i am extremely happy with the Stills addition. He is going to be a great pick up.

I guess they free us up some on draft day. placeholders are not solutions though

Spikes is great at what he does but all he can really do is defend the inside run well. He's never been good in coverage or in space and despite showing promise as a blitzer at times he's not a pass-rushing option.

I watched him for 4 years hoping he could become a 3 down LB; he's fun to watch but he's really just a rotational/run specialist LB.

I'm not sure Spikes is better value than Kelven Sheppard at this time. Both are part time guys, Sheppard know the defense and costs less, Spikes is a bit more athletic.

I expect the mike linebacker solution to be drafted. Yes, Spikes is decent in his run defense but he offers very little else. There is a reason why Bill Bellichick let him go and there is a reason he is not with the Bills. We can get someone younger and better than him in the Draft. I'm not certain who it is, but I'm pretty sure it will be our 1st or 2nd round Draft pick.

I don't think Spikes is going to be the answer. If we can't land a top mike in the draft (1st, 2nd rd), I think I would rather give Tripp a shot in the middle and have Jenkins and Misi on the outside. If McCain takes another step forward, we could even afford to put Misi back in the middle if Tripp isn't ready to step up.

Again, I know thats not an ideal scenario or long term answer, but I think i'd rather see that than Spikes at this point. Sure would be nice if Tripp has a breakout season this year. They certainly had high hopes for Tripp when they drafted him. Played OLB in college but saw some time at Mike in practice last year.

Doesn't matter what LB we have. Philbin will just have him defend a WR after he calls a TO on 4th & 10 with 5 seconds left in the game.....

Agreed with you guys that Spikes won't be the answer. I totally agree too that it'll have to be answered in the draft!!!

Now I pray that it happens!!!

Kendricks!!!

The best receiver on the board at 14, then Denzel Perriman. The guy has the instincts to be a sideline to sideline hitter. Stay with the U and get Clive Wolford, Duke Johnson,Phillip Dorsett etc Don't miss guys that are in our backyard!
