Vick was the one who stomped on Dumervil's left calf. And yet Vick was the one who, as he tells it, nervously approached Dumervil at the scouting combine, hoping to apologize. They talked for 10 minutes, Vick said.

"As soon as I [saw] him, I saw the back of his shirt and it said 'Dumervil,' and I walked up to him, and he kind of looked at me. He was looking at me like, 'What is he going to do?' But I said, 'Hey Elvis, can I come over here and talk to you for a minute?' And we just kind of went around the corner and talked about a few things, and I told him, 'Look, I'm sorry. I really wasn't thinking about the bigger picture. I could have hurt your leg. It could have [been] worse than it was.'

"He said that he understood what I was going through. We just kind of dapped up [shook hands] and hugged each other. I just felt it was a big relief off my chest." Vick said he thought about the Gator Bowl incident every morning, while some nights he was unable to sleep until he encountered Dumervil again.

Vick, 22, who has been working out in Atlanta, says he has matured greatly since Jan. 6, when Tech cut ties with him. Shortly thereafter he started attending church and says he has developed a relationship with God. He says he's smarter, that his life has "slowed down."

Asked who in 10 years will have had the better NFL career (assuming he indeed has one), him or his superstar brother, the younger Vick responded without hesitation, "I say Marcus, because Marcus is going to pass for more yards than Michael (winks)."

I know, I know. You all are sick of Vick threads, but I think this is worth another one. He is still a punk, but atleast it looks like he is changing.

Thanks... good read. Let's hope the kid gets his act together. The NFL will continue with or without him. Choice is his.

I think it is a can't lose deal. We have nothing invested and if he messes up he's gone. I am one for second chances. We have all had problems at some point. His were on National tv. In time we will know if it's all talk or not, but as long as he is a part of my team I will root for and support him like I do all the players on MY FINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

for what we gave up for him its worth it. i mean if he is still a punk then we didn't really lose anything. if he straightens out then it will be a great steal, as we all know he has talent.

I'm not getting my hopes up as only time will tell. I believe we have adressed many glaring issues this offseason and we will be good with or without a well behaved vick.

i can't wait for this season. Go Phins

he can say what he wants, but it takes time before it means anything. Actions speak louder than words. He needs to learn to keep emotions in check and use appropriate responses. Right now can you honestly say it is he has matured or rather he has not been put in those situations again to this point?

You don't mature over night, its a long process. He is saying what he can right now because he needs a shot. However, if the opportunity presents itself (and it usually does as he will put himself around it) he will mess up again.

He does not have the upside of his brother. He only is where he is because his name is Vick, nothing more. I am all for giving people second chances, but his guy has had one after the other and quite frankly Saban and Co. should have let him disapear into nothing.

Lets hope he grows up...not just so he can maybe play football...but that he can also become a man and do what's right in life. We'll see.

i'm still not sold. i hope he really is making up for his past antics, if not for the fans, football or the millions of cash he could be raking in, at least for himself as a human being.

That sounded pretty genuine to me, I think he deserves his shot and I'm glad that we can give it to him. Whatever you want to say about the "horrific" stamp on Dumervil's leg, I see worse things than that in Rugby over here all the time, it was in the heat of the moment and he says he apologised for it.
I would rather have a guy that stamps on guys than a coward who spits like Sean Taylor or Eric Moulds, that shows a serious character flaw to me.
