Michael Thomas named AFC Defensive player of the week...

Should start him over Clemons. I mean seriously, can it get worse than Chris Clemons back there? Always late to the play, tackles like crap, and has stone hands. All the reasons he was resigned by us after no one wanted him in free agency.

To be fair, Clemons deserves some credit for Thomas' success last week. He helped him with his limited knowledge of the defense and was always directing him what to do on a certain play and who to cover. Clemons has actually not been that big of a problem this year, like I thought he would be. He hasn't done anything great, but he hasn't been terrible.

Everybody talks about the fourth down interception, but I don't think the pass was going to be completed anyway and it would have been Miami's ball regardless. I was more impressed with his pass breakup in the endzone when he denied a sure touchdown.

The kids a beast on special teams, that's when I first noticed him last week, it was like who is that aggressive dude jumping around trying to make plays...looking forward to seeing him on the ST this week.....

Yeah, I rewatched the New England game and had forgot about the tackles he made. Guy definately jumped off the screen. Here's hoping more of the same is in store for the upcoming games.

The play he made on the RB out in the flat was awesome. Good instincts and football speed. He's a keeper.

Great job Ireland!

Incredible that the Defensive Player of the Week was not an officially designated defensive player.

This may be a 1st. Can someone check?

I always believed in him

Knowing what to do and being able to do it are two different things. I can tell you how a plane flies, but I don't know how to actually fly a plane. Clemons has been that bad. He is consistently out of position, He's terrible at run support. His instincts are awful. When he isn't missing the angle on a tackle (see Antonio Brown's runback) he's grabbing a leg and holding on for dear life. If his shooting skills are anything like his catching ability, he could put the muzzle flush against a target and still misfire.

This guy, and Phillip Wheeler, are the two biggest bums/liabilities on our defense.

It's amazing how some guys just 'get' football, and Michael Thomas certainly seems to be one of those guy. Not only that, but he's got a 'never-say-die' passion that sparkled on that breakup of the Amendola pass. So many guys would've let down as soon as they realized that the WR had the step and the ball was right there. Thomas's tenacity and fierce desire truly inspired awe. I don't know if this showed up on film of this guy beforehand, but someone in the Dolphins F.O. or scouting dept saw something with this kid, and now, we've all seen it.
