@alexmarvez: .@MiamiDolphins safety @Michael31Thomas is signing his RFA tender today as offseason program opens, @sn_nfl has learned.

Useful player and seems like a great lockerroom leader. Would like to see him extended at some point

More on Michael Thomas: He was in discussions with two other teams, had a 3-yr offer on the table, but ultimate decided to resign with MIA.

Thomas was a captain on a playoff team last year, and that's his focus again in 2017. Didn't want to miss beginning of offseason program.

That game winning INT against Brady was one of the best plays we've had in recent memory. Welcome back, Michael!

Probably the most involved player on the team as far as team community events and causes go as well.

He's a perfect candidate for the Dolphins Community Ambassador ( or whatever the fins call them) when he finishes playing. Even if we have someone, we should hire Thomas too, he's a natural.

Nice to see guys want to come back even if it is for less. Hopefully the days are gone when players would take any offer to leave.

Dude has made one play in his Dolphin career. Good guy but just an average player

Great locker room guy, great in the community, and great special teamer. That's enough to make the 53, but I'd like to see him never take another defensive snap again aside from the preseason. He's atrocious in coverage.

I love how some fans think a team needs to have a superstar in every backup position. Michael Thomas is a special teams star who has just enough talent to be a back up in our Defensive backfield. And from everything I have read he is also an overall asset to the locker room and the community. I'm very happy to have him and his "one play" back with us.

Why is it I dont give a rats ass if a player is "great in the community"?

He's not great at one thing but good or average at multiple things. This IMO is what makes him valuable. Every team needs guys who can play multiple positions and fill in when injuries happen. He is a good ST player and is respected by teammates. He is a good depth player, leader, STer, and community person with integrity. These are all good traits and makes him the kind of player the organization wants.

I would've been ok with him staying or going.

As long as he doesn't have to play on defense, I am ok with him staying for his intangible and ST's value. If he's playing safety I am holding my breathe.
