Looking through Turner's stats from last year, it seems Turner was held to less than 80 yards more often that I originally thought. Seven games he was held to 80 or less, with Atlanta winning only two of those. Here is a breakdown of those seven games:

Yards _ Run Defense Rank _ W/L _ Team
--------------------------------------------
56___20___ L___ Carolina
42 ___19___ L___ Tampa Bay
54___ 5___ W___ Chicago
58____4___ L___ Philly
81___27___ L___ Denver
61___17___ L___ New Orleans
70___1___ W___Minnesota

Based on these stats, we need keep him under 80 yards for our best chance to win. Our team still has something to prove the way last season ended and I think we come out fired up as well holding him to under 80. With that, we come out with our first win.

Turner is really good, but his O-line struggles against good D's. If we don't do well against ATL running game, we could be in for a long season.

I'm not saying we should take him lightly. I'm saying that if a Denver team ranked 27th against the run last year can hold him to 81 yards, we certainly have a chance to do the same.

Turner and their O-line are overrated because they racked up their best rushing yardage against the very worst run defenses in the NFL.

They played 5 of the very worst run defenses in the NFL last season, and those were the games when they had high rushing yards-- like over 200 yards rushing against both the Lions defense in the first game of the season, and against the Rams defense in the last game of the year when the Rams totally gave up, and were filled with injuries.

Against other teams that have average run defenses, Atlanta looked mediocre running the ball.

And the Dolphins are far from one of the worst run defenses in the NFL.

Im sure the Falcon fans are saying the same thing about our strength of schedule last year.

Although I do believe we have a defense worhty of fearing. It'll all play out Sunday.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one to notice. The only team Tuner did well against that wasn't in the bottom 1/3 in defensive yards per carry was the Chargers.

Excluding themselves at number 5, the Falcons played 8 of the 10 worst YPC defenses in 10 games and the all of worst 6.

Their's wasn't really any better due to a weak NFC.

Your last sentence is the key. I believe the AFC is a much deeper conference with more physical defenses.
I'm not really sure how good Atlanta is because of the conference they play in.

Interesting to note, looking at his 2008 stats.... I dont see alot of 3-4 defenses that he played against. It should be mentioned that he did have a monster game against the San Diego Chargers (3-4 defense), but I think alot of that was emotion against his former team.

If we can open up our offense and put points on the board, I think we should win this game. We CANT leave this game up to our defense. On the flip side, if we have the momentum on our side (offensively) I think our defense can bring in some pash rush and disrupt 2 year qb Matt Ryan... Atlanta's secondary is not that great. We all know we have the accurate (weak arm) passer in Chad Pennington, but we need to find ways to stretch the field. As Coach Sparano says "big chunks" haha.

The stat I'm looking at is his 4.5 ypc. That's a solid number, but it's only marginally better than Ronnie's 4.3. Turner just had a whole lot more carries.

I'm just glad to hear that our #1 priority is to stop him. I think we will do allright but he will score a TD.

couple of WC successful run plays, one to ricky, one ronnie, and then flea flicker. I see that all day vs. them. dont you? I mean, Carolina still couldnt cover Cobbs when they diagnosed it-albeit a second too late.

And that's my point. Their fans should feel equally confident. Our teams mirror each other in many ways. I'm biased of course.. as are you and the rest of us Finheaven faithful....

There are so many reports of us being a better football team but likely will have a poorer record because of strength of schedule. I say.. every Sunday is a brand new day.

This ain't the same ole Dolphins.

Michael Turner would be the best back in the league if he played for the fins.
