Middle Tennessee State Interviewing Muschamp For Head Coach

NO NO NO NO. I guess this is what happens if you have good coaches, I just want to be able to keep them a few years before we have to let them go.

This should make things come to a head with the Muschamp to defensive coordinator move some people have spoken about. I think I decided that if that were the case, it would be likely that Smith would become special teams coach and Armstrong would be out. If that is actually what Saban has in mind, I highly doubt that Muschamp would sacrifice a chance to be a pro coordinator to coach a non-I-A college program. He has to know that a good five years as a coordinator would put him in a darn good position for I-A or pro head coach positions.

Screw that, bump him up to DC. I want him to stay with us for a long time.

Dosnt he already call the plays defensivly?

It's DI-AA, right? I doubt head coach at I-AA would be seen as downgrade from defensive assistant at the pro level. In fact, that might be the most obvious sort of incremental upgrade if you ask me.

Just because he gets in interview doesn't mean that he has a very good chance of getting the job. I don't really want to see Muschamp go anyway because I think that he abd Saban can make a good duo together. Muschamp will prob be our DC in the next few years, while Smith and Saban teaches him more about the NFL level, since he has never been here before. I forgot that Smith was a ST's coach at one point, but if we do make a change there, then I think that O'Brien will be our next ST's coach instead of Smith.

MTSU is Division 1. They're in the Sun Belt conference, the same conference as Don Strock and FIU.

I find it hard to believe Muschamp would be inerested in this position. For starters I would almost guarantee it would be a pretty decent paycut from what he's making now. He would have a much better chance of moving up the coaching ranks by sticking with Saban and riding on the coat tails of Miami's future success rather than taking a job at one of the worst D-1 programs around and fading into oblivion in 2-3 years.

When you say DI, you mean DI-A, right? I see that the Sun Belt Conference champ is going to a bowl, which I believe means that they are I-A instead of I-AA.

If it is indeed I-A, I think it would be a very tough call for him. Making an impact with a team that finished 4-6 last year could land him some CUSA or MAC job quicker than he could probably get that staying with Saban as a defensive assistant.

Big downgrade. The equivalent of Jackson State, Grambling, Mississippi Valley State, Alcorn A & M...
