With all the GM talk going on nowadays, does anyone know what our drafts would have looked like during the past few years if we simply took the best player available on one of the so called experts board such as Mel Kiper or the younger guy? I know there is a lot more that goes into the job but it seems that the ability to draft is the main determining factor of a GM's rating. Just wondering...

Would not matter we could not develope a picture much less a player.

It would be hard to figure out. One guy may be high on one GMs board but not so high on another...it also has to do with scheme, 3-4 vs. 4-3, WCO vs. vertical passing game vs. power running game, etc. It would be difficult to guess without saying 'If X was our GM what would our draft have looked like?'

idk about the rest but we'd probably have Dez Bryant, I think Jake Long was considered the best player in that draft but pretty much every team that needed a QB would have taken Ryan over Long except Miami.

Maybe Dez, maybe Earl Thomas, maybe Ryan Matthews...hard to know. Depends on the GM...remember we traded the spot to San Diego and they thought highly enough about Ryan Matthews that they took him there instead of Dez or Earl. Was Matthews the best player at that pick? According to A.J. Smith he was. Dez dropped in the draft mainly because of character concerns...that factors into BPA IMO.

I took a look at the '07 draft and saw Willis and Revis right behing Ted Slimm and was like oh boy. I know everyone blasts our current GM but is it safe to say this years draft was his first with Parcells out of the picture? If so this years draft is looking like the best in years...

Revis was #1 on my board followed by Willis. But the majority of Miami fans wanted Brady Quinn in that draft. I wanted Revis cause we needed cornerback help in a bad way and a return man. He was a very good return man at Pitt but I don't think he's done any of that in the NFL.

After a quick look, all these guys could have been selected and were projected to the fins
2010 Earl Thomas, Arrelious Benn, Jimmy Graham (enough said)
2009 Clay Matthews, Connor Barwin, Shonn Greene (Pat White the disaster here, CBs Ok)
2008 Matt Ryan, DeSean Jackson, Martellus Bennett, Jamaal Charles ( Merling awful, Henne worth the pick at the time)
2007 Patrick Willis :crazy:Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

IN THEIR DEFENCE, HINDSIGHT'S A WONDERFUL THING!

It's tough to say because you will here Kiper telling you how great guys like Vernon Gholston and JaMarcus Russel are.

He's pretty decent at returning picks for TD's against the Fins :chuckle:

we needed a qb that draft so yeah brady quinn would've been our pick.

Glad someone found that funny...I was pretty upset about it but then I don't like losing.

As much as I want Luck I hate watching this team lose every week and in embarressing fashion.

Fact is I didn't find it funny. I was pissed about the blown PI interference call and the return, just the same as I get pissed when I think about how ****ty Sparano is as a head coach and how ****ty this team is playing. I was definitely one of the supporters of the regime this offseason but now it's clear to me that a change needs to be made. Sometimes you need to create a little levity in certain situations to help you get through them.

its easier to go back and see who was picked after the dolphins picked and determine who they couldve had instead - especially at a position of need. maybe sticking within 3-5 picks after to properly gauge where the players were slotted..
