Hey Guy's. Long time Dolphins fan here. I might make my 1st trip ever to Florida between Sept. - Nov. this year to Disney World. I have already told my wife that if I ever make it to Florida, I'm going to a Dolphins game. So, what I need to know is this, What would be the best way to get to Miami? Fly or Drive? And How far is it from Orlando to Miami? Jim

Just rent a car and drive down, it is not worth it to get a flight from Orlando to Miami. Just rent a car, and take the 3 1/2-4hr drive depending on where you are staying in orlando. Also, i would suggest maybe getting a hotel for one night b/c if it is your first dolphin game you are going to be going crazy there and i guarentee you you won't want to drive back to orlando after the game....

if you take the florida turnpike from orlando to miami it is 4 hours. i do it frequently.

Take mix masters advice on the Hotel thing.

My wife and I went to my first game last year and I was like a kid in a candy store........or a man in a beer store as it were.

We ended up finding one, so plan a head.

one more piece of advice; when we walked into the stadium and got to our seats, I looked over at my wife.......and with a tear in my eye..... said

"this is the most beautiful site these eye's have ever seen"

she still tells everyone that story ... "how I love the Dolphins more than her."

so I lie and say that's not true. :)

Good Luck and enjoy the game!

What if you're car breaks down?....won't you become Gator food in the swamps?

Driving is easy, and depending on what time your driving it takes around 4 hours. Turnpike south to the stadium exit.

Now I have a good idea of how long it will take to drive to the game, I should just get on a plane and fly in and out, after all it is a family vacation and all and I would be gone quite awhile driving back and forth. I still have plenty of time to decide on what I will do, but want to thank you guy's who took time to reply. Thanks, Jim P.S. If I decided to fly in and out, can anybody help me out with how far from the stadium I will be from the airport?

dont fly, thats ridiculous. if you leave at like 5 or 6 oclock in the morning from orlando, youll be there with plenty of time to tailgate or whatever. The 1 oclock games end at like 4ish and you would be on the road by 5 and be getting back to orlando by 9:30. flying = stressful and a waste of money.

When we go down to Florida, we usually do the same exact thing. We stay at Disney and drive down the day of the game. Takes about 4 hours.

I LIVE IN DAYTONA BEACH AND IT TAKES ABOUT THREE HOURS FROM HERE STRAIGHT DOWN 95 SOUTH. IF YOU GO TURNPIKE YOUR GONNA HAVE TO STOP CONSISTANTLY TO DEPOSIT CHANGE FOR THE TURNPIKE FEES. SO JUST GO DOWN 95 SOUTH AND STAY AT DON SHULA HOTEL AND GOLF RESORT. ITS ONLY 15 MINS FROM THE STADIUM AND ITS A RATHER NICE HOTEL WITH A ON SIGHT SHULA STEAKHOUSE ITS "PEACHES" BY FAR THE BEST FOR THE MONEY

Definitely drive. You have two options as most have pointed out. Either take I-95 South or the Turnpike South. Either way it is about 4 hours. The turnpike does cost for tolls while I-95 doesn't have tolls.

I-95 route - From OIA take 528 East (also called Beeline or now Beach line) and it will run into I-95. Then take I-95 South.

Turnpike route - Take 408 West (EastWest Expressway) and it will run into Turnpike. Then take Turnpike South.

Both routes are pretty straight forward just be aware of the different names for the roads mentioned above.

Don't try to drive down, watch the game and drive back the same day. That is a long day!

I hope you have a great time and that the Dolphins win!

Nah, there are canals and marsh land around the turnpike, but its not like they are 2 inches from the road.

Anyways its better to drive, just take the turnpike south until you get to Miami.
