For saying the refs were to blame for not seeing his challenge flag.

those guys are idiots. the friday show after the game, they said it was the ref's fault for not seeing the flag, and now they're giving saban the just shut up award... come on.

Golic still believe it's the refs fault the voting audience determines who wins the award.

They didnt give him the award, viewers and listeners voted on it.. Golic still retains that Saban was right..

my appologies then. i dont really listen to them on the radio. i just happened to be home on a break, flipping through the espns, when i saw mike and mike talking about that incident. i didnt realize the fans voted on it.

the listeners vote for the "Just shut up" award......it's not decided by them. Even today when going over the nominees for the week.....they said that they didn't understand why Saban was winning the vote because the agreed with what he said.

2 reasons Saban won:

1) Nothing else notable to vote for.....it was either Saban, Jim Tressel (sp?) (saying he voted Texas #1, when he didn't) or Tiger (saying he was rooting for a foreign tennis player over an american).

2) Generally, people who aren't Dolphin fans are sick of hearing how great Nick Saban is.

I stopped listening to Mike and Mike about a month ago cause I was sick of there stupidity.

call me crazy but i think it was saban's fault. that was a halfass toss of the flag and after you throw it you should call or go out and get the refs attention.

There are plenty of Dolphins fans who are sick of hearing how great Nick Saban is because I don't think he is.

Who actually cares who's fault it is because we lost the game and now Nick Saban and the refs all know better.

Man you're batting 1000 today in my opinion. I agree, by the way. Yeah personally I think the Tiger Woods thing is a non issue to most; as is the Tressel thing. Both of those topics are just some media people trying to throw something against the wall to see if it sticks. So Saban won by process of elimination.

You'd prefer Wannstedt?

I didn't say that. Wannstedt had a good record and he did some good things, but I don't think he was a good coach. I don't think Saban is good coach either as he hasn't shown me anything to indicate that his particular philosophy is working. Maybe it will, but the last drive Miami had with the lead - a predictable third-down slow-developing run and a punt in Steelers territory - was typical of both Mularkey and Wannstedt in that it was "playing not to lose."

You are right that in the end it was his fault......but I don't blame him.

It was the first instance I have seen where a challenge flag was thrown and it wasn't seen and didn't count. Sure, the caveat was there that it is the coaches responsibilty to get a refs attention.........but it's like that little known rule (I never heard that before Thursday.....and Michaels or Madden apparently hadn't either) that no one knows about until somebody gets screwed by it....Saban was somebody this time.
