So I'm listening to Mike Florio on the Joe Rose show (currently out and being filled by Omar Kelly, i know i know) but Mike Florio just stated that when tannebuam left the jets and was an agent for coaches, he was able to pick up on insider information such as who are the good up and comers, and who has the smarts, and/or who all the teams are thinking are the next hot thing. Said that brought a good coach recruiting knowledge to his repituar and also said he would have landed a job on the football operations side somewhere else if Miami didnt hire him. I know he is a very contraversial employee of our Dolphins so just wanted to bring it here and see what you guys think. Do you think Tannebaum maybe learned a thing or two being an agent for coaches which dramatically improved his knowledge and abilities on the football operations side or is he still a bafoon?

He gets a +1 from me on the smooth coaching hire. We came off looking pretty good in the process.

Still an open book on him and he has a way to go to prove he has learned, but he is off to a good start.

I will give him credit for (eventually) realising that Marrone wasn't the best coach.

Whether or not gase works out, we identified our top target and got it done. It's been a while since that happened as smoothly as it did this year. Good for tannenbaum

Absolutely! I'm all in on team TB! I really think he's going to continue to surprise us fans. I'm excited to see what he puts together this off-season.

He is great for the organization.

I truly believe so too!

And all that insider information lead him to think Doug Marrone was his top target. You can lead a horse to water...but you can't make him drink. You can give Tannenbaum all the information...but you won't make him any smarter.

"He is going to give us his buddy, Mangini, for a coach! I hate Tannenbum!"----says the hating Finheaven poster.

I got a soaring list of things that never happened that people swore would happen under Tannenbaum.

Do any of those include Amari Cooper not being anything special? Make sure you bump a few of those threads while you pat yourself on the back lol.

What does that have to do with TB?

Hiring a coach is a crapshoot. All you can hope is that you have people who do their homework on the candidates and are able to land who they think is best. I always felt that while Tannenbaum's ability to pick players was of concern, he brought tremendous value in coach search committee due to his insider knowledge. That is not to say that Gase will be a success but he was the hottest candidate and he was the Dolphins' top choice after the plethora candidates that were interviewed.

my thoughts exactly

well stated

I have to admit I was very negative about Tannebaum when he first came here and Im still suspicious, but I cant say I'm mad at his moves so far. I realize time will tell on Gase but like Hayden says, At least we are on the same damn page for once!
