Here's something interesting. Living on Long Island, I often listen to Mike Francesa on FAN anyway. But I missed this.

Here's the link: click here
(i hope I inserted the link right)

Anyway, the gist of it is that Francesa is very close to Parcells and he was asked about what this regime thinks of Henne. Francesa said they like him a lot but aren't in a rush to put him in.

I love hearing things like this, fellas!!:woot:

ya same here i also listen to francesa all the time and i heard him say how miami thinks he will be a really good quarterback for us, and that there in no rush to put him in.

Interesting since I have heard so many General managers, coaches, Presidents say how weak there rookie backup Qbs are and how they knew that when they drafted them. Sorry guys, just had to say that...however, I know we all hope BP and company are right.

yeah, seriously, what did you expect Parcells would say? the only news i took from this is that we're in no rush to put him in. but then again, that was to be expected given the way Pennington plays right now.

Of course they like Henne. Otherwise, they wouldn't have drafted him.

I just wanted to share something that I read. Sorry if it bothers you because it's stating the obvious. But it's always nice to know that they still feel as good about him as they did when they drafted him. I think it shows that Henne is progressing well in practice and whatnot.

I live on Long Island too.

Francesa is a fat oaf, he's a windbag, and I hate him.
Has there ever been a radio host with less personality and sense of humor? I sincerely doubt it. Not to mention the fact that he lacks any degree of intellect.

That's more insightful than you will get from Greg "Jets Jocking" Carton in the AM on the Fan, that's for sure. But we should be fine since he LLLLLLLocked it up this morning (A Jets playoff appearance that is), since all those in the know do know how lousy his picks truly are.;)

I like Chad Henne also. I liked him at Michigan way before Miami ever drafted him(Yes, a Penn State fan liked a Michigan QB). I think he just "has it" when it comes to being a quarterback. He showed that he has a very strong arm and good decision making in the preseason. I also really like Chad Pennington, but Henne is definitely the long term QB for this team.

The thing is, if the Jets did not trade for Favre and Pennington remained with the Jets, Henne would likely be the starter right now. Getting Pennington was really great, because I honestly think it is better for a QB to sit his first year. YES, I know that Matt Ryan is having success right now. But, for ever Matt Ryan, there are a bunch of John Becks.

Pennington should definitely finish this year out, but I do think Henne should be given a legitimate shot at the starting job in 2009.

Ok a little bit off topic but can anyone find any Chad Henne highlights from week 2 when he played against the cardinals. I am trying to find them but cant so if anyone knows hook me up.

I always look for Henne on the sidelines. You can see he's out there taking it all in. I'd like to see him play when the situation is right. I was pretty rough on Pennington after the Raven game. Mostly because I didn't want the season to slip away. But no doubt, Pennington, as a professional QB, should be having a huge impact on Henne's growth.

I agree, I think playing as a rookie can be very detrimental to a QB's development in all but a select few cases. Keep in mind that the jury still isn't out on Matt Ryan, and by that I mean he could end up a Byron Leftwich-type guy. Leftwich looked stellar for a rookie QB, but he never really learned to elevate his play beyond that of a good rookie QB. The same thing could happen to Ryan as well.
