I'm tired of hearing this guy protest with such conviction that Pep will not be ready until October. Last I checked, Golich doesn't have a degree in any sort of medicine. I know we're being optimist fans, but when all reports are to the contrary, how can he say "the guy won't be ready until October regardless of what he [Culpepper] says"??

I HATE MIKE GOLIC!!! the guys a bum he thinks hes a doctor and saying when daunte will be ready, i dont understand how we have qb concerns when we pick up daunte culpepper who is well on his way to be ready for the season and we pick up joey harrington to back him up until he is ready

ure ranting over a football analyst saying a player wont be ready by the start of the season? wow... Why would u let something like that bother u... its not like hes saying we suck... lmao lame thread b!

I started a similar thread not long ago, and most people said I should not worry about what the analysts think.

Nonetheless, it is irritating. I agree with you.

It still cracks me up that Golic thinks he knows more than the Dolphins' team doctors and coaches.

You hear nothing but how well Daunte is doing in rehab and how ahead of schedule he is. He's rolling out of the pocket, doing everything.
The team plans on him starting week 1.

But yet, Golic and a few others on NFL Live insist week in and week out that Daunte won't be ready until "AT least October."

It's just laughable. I mean, do these guys read? Do they pay attention to the news?

Here's my impression of Golic and Mark Schlereth:

yea no matter what anyone says its frustrating to watch a guy say the complete opposite of what is being reported and especially having ignorant fans who only get there info off shows like nfl live annoying you on how daunte wont be ready....i know its only an analysts but its still gets frustrating to watch

Golic is frigin clueless.. the guy thinks World War II is still goin on

Exactly. Who cares what Golic thinks about whether Culpepper will be ready or not? Why worry about that? If Golic were trashing the Dolphins, okay. But, even the Dolphin doctors don't really know that Pep will be ready to start the season. There's all sorts of setbacks that can happen and if there is any potential for a setback, then Saban should sit him.

The fact is, running around and throwing in shorts is one thing. It's another to be out there in training camp, with pads on, in the heat, or taking a hit. The pressure on the knee will be much more and there is always a chance of swelling. I can't begin to count the number of athletes coming back from a knee injury who practiced or played in a game - and then were out another 3-6 weeks as a result of swelling and other issues. And, the same talk was coming out of the Bills camp about McGahee in the first year of his injury recovery.

--------

Now, since we are on Golic, he can be pretty funny, but I don't like his views on most issues on Mike & Mike. The "shtick" part is fine - but he basically doesn't care about guys that cheat - like Barry Bonds. And, his reasoning is often extremely shallow.

Golic can be really annoying...he should stick to the Mike and Mike show and not make medical diagnoses until he has an M.D.

If you don't like thread then why reply b?

You really didn't need to start a new thread...go back as week or so and add to one of them...Geez, here is a guy who played for 13 yrs, had 5 or 6 knee surgeries (including an ACL, which is the worst of them, but not quite as bad as DCs, since he tore two others....), and speaks with some authority on the subject...You're posting that he is so full of it is a reflection that you too are full of it on the subject...

And, as of yet, I haven't heard Dr. Andrews say anything about him being able to start the season...what he said last and hasn't wavered on was that it was a "calendar year long recovery" time and his progress is excellent...Does that mean he's going to be ready to start ?? I think that Golic's statement is a lot closer to Dr. Andrews than DCs....

Oh please, so because he had knee surgery he knows Daunte's situation any better? I dont buy that for one second. All indications are that Daunte is ahead of schedule, throwing and doing some running. Now obviously it is way too early to say when he will be ready, but any analyst should do some research on the guy's progress before making such statements. The fact that he is a former player who had his share of injuries means nothing.
