The Saints are set to release FB Mike Karney.
This shouldn't be surprising as the team has been kicking the tires on fullbacks who can double as short-yardage backs such as Heath Evans and Leonard Weaver.

Im not throwing Polite under the Bus and I really like the guy and what he did. Truth is Miami needs a FB that can block better. Polite while awesome on short yardage he is not that good of Blocker. Do you think Miami could be interested in Karney who is an excellent blocker and is similiar to Polite on shory yardage. Polite is better on short yardage, but not so much blocking. What do you think?

I remember him siting three people on there *** with one block (forgot against who)
he went crazy that game and he had some thing like 3 TD

yeah man. could be a good pick up! i do like lou though.

i can live with cramer and polite he is like rob konrad

He could be a good pickup but I don't think he will be because of what Lou Polite did last year. I think Parcells and Tony like him. Besides we've not had the best of luck with picking up FBs in the past couple years (Schlesinger, Beasley come to mind).

Why has FB all of a sudden become this need position? Maybe it could be upgraded in the future, but I liked what Polite did last year.

There are more pressing things than a FB at this point.

Cause so far this organization has shored up the cheapest positions on the field. You FS and C dont get piad boat loads of money and neither do FB. Miami has left key position for the draft and has address FS, C and quite possibly FB. Polite was great and he should not get release just cause we sign a guy like Karney, but Karney should be sign and battle Polite for the FB role. The guy is one heck of a blocker and good running game requires a FB that can block.

Polite is decent, Karney is probably a better and more polished FB. Certainly a better blocker, and probably a better offensive weapon. Polite was great for us in short yardage though. I guess it depends on what Henning wants to do with the offense, if the FB is going to be a big key to the puzzle then yeah i want to upgrade in the best way possible. If not, if we use our FB's like last year, stick with Polite.

Will see it is just an idea, Polite played real well this year and he is a guy that was brought to the league by the Trifecta. Parcells is loyal to players that perform well, so dont be to sure he is shown the way out again.

He is an excellent story a guy who was brought in by Parcells, bounce around didn't have a job in the league and when given a second oppurtunity was a huge part of last year success. I love Polite and I want him to succedd with this team.

I love Polite. I hope they work him into more catch and run plays. He needs to improve his blocking, but give him a chance to do just that. We can work around his weaknesses just like everyone else. Like Tony said [paraphrasing] You make the system play to your guys' strengths and downplay their weaknesses.

I don't mind seeing some camp competition, but I certainly wouldn't waste a draft pick on a FB unless a total stud fell in our late in the draft.

I say we use Polite more as the weapon he was intended and use others for blocking more often, but then I've always been a big fan of the FB; a position that is an endangered species nowadays.

Polite was great for us, i hope we keep him around for years. But if this Karney guy comes cheap, and we keep 2 fullbacks...im all for it. If we can only keep one fullback, then id still like to keep Polite.

I can appreciate what Polite did last year but I really would prefer a mamoth FB to pound LB's for R&R and allow our best RB's to stay in on shortyardage and not only get first downs but break some long ones when teams commit the Safeties up.
