Mike Mayock: Dolphins have nothing but backup QB's

mayocks spot on...and its why no matter what we do in the draft til we find that franchise qb this teams gonna continue to have top #12 draft picks every year...matt moore's not gonna change that and neither is david garrards dead body...

true, his 1-4 for a team with a lame duck coach who ended up 2-14 was terrible (except for a 300yd win).. but still he won 50% of their games in 35% of their starts. But then again, using your standards, except the 2011 version had a fresh new eager beaver HC, many upgrades including 2 studly TEs, the great Cam Newton, unlike Moore, didn't start the season 1-4, but instead 1-5 and after that 2-12. And that's with an added weapon of his own legs! So by your standards he was "horrible" too, but because of his draft status, allowed to continue to start. See a pattern here?
 
I don't think either Moore or Garrard are terrible.....but without a decent WR core, they will be.

cam newton and matt moore don't belong in the same paragraph...carolinas got their franchise qb and game changer for the next decade and we got nothing but guys who you tread water with...i don't care what their records were...i heard the same crap about he wins with penny who didn't have the upside to get us over the hump...matt moores the same thing...not taking us anywhere...carolina and carolina fans have nothing but optimism about their future cause they've secured the one thing that influences a nfl franchises outlook the most...the qb

that argument blows...

you're entitled to your opinion, but the fact that Cam Newton, who Mayock also bagged on incidentally has become an elite talent yet produced worse results than Moore, for a longer part of the season than Moore only reinforces the argument that an awful Carolina team with an uncaring and underperforming coach before and since with Denver that was actually upgraded with more TE weapons in 2011 should not be a credible argument against him. :idk:
 
its not an opinion that cam newton is a much better qb than matt moore...its a freaking fact...if you can't see it well i can't help you...polish your game up

damn kid had like 37 tds as a rookie...i'm not sure matt moore has ever done that in his damn career total...
 
Matt Moore (12th) played statistically better than 20 other QB's in the NFL, including Romo, Tebow and Sanchez. Those guys suck worse. Moore is decent, but he is not elite. We need to upgrade, but he can do the job until we find a better QB.
He is right about Garrard and Devlin..just back up's. Garrard probably could not play a 16 games schedule(he would be fine in spot duty) because his back will give out, and Devlin will likely get cut this year. He is not worth developing IMHO.
I like Mayock generally, but sometimes Mayock gets lazy. Instead of writing a real story, he just takes shots at perceived easy targets.

But I'm not arguing that Cam's not much better than Moore, hell I wouldn't even argue that he's not much better than Ryan, or even Flacco. I agree he's an elite talent.

I'm merely asserting that Moore's poor performance over 5 starts for an awful team that was upgraded almost everywhere including HC and 2 big TE weapons, even with Cam's own legs as his weapons, produced marginally better results compared to Cam's 1st 5 games and even over the first 12 games.

All I'm saying is, if you buy into Cam Newton, his performance over the first 12 games for an upgraded team was at best comparable to Moore's on behalf of a worse version over the first 5 games, the argument that Moore stunk the year before for a worse version of the team is invalidated!

You can argue other things, but moore's f5 games for the 2010 version of Carolina is off the table if you're willing to cut Cam slack over the first 12 games.

If you can't understand that, well.....:idk:

Cam Newton is a great athlete playing QB. He will probably do great things and set some records.
That said, I think he a pompous jackass...everytime I see that Under Armour commercial(with him and his DJ doing his superman shtick) I want to kick his teeth in through the TV set. LOL. He isn't the kid of guy I can root for..he can do that all by himself.
 
People treat Mayock as the end all be all. He ain't. Remembering him gushing over the Pat White pick.
 
David Garrard + Matt Moore Still Does not = Starting QB.
Should have Traded the Farm for RG3
