Probably the "smart" pick on the board. Fills a huge need and he's a great scheme fit.

Fits Tannenbaum's M.O. more than Gurley would.

I like the pick and I'd like it more if we traded down with someone within top 19 teams to get him. (because I think philly takes him if he's there)

Eh would prefer a trade down if the draft fell like that.. Trade down or Perriman before Johnson.

i have a feeling our draft room this year will be a little less conservative with tannebaum and hickey in the room

How many first round corners contribute the way we'd need him to their first year? I just don't see that as a safe pick in the sense we need it. Plus we can find a corner in round two. Swing for the fence with Gurley. At the very least he'd help with 2 of our greatest weaknesses: goal line and short yardage. Maybe we don't lose games like Green Bay and Detroit anymore.

In his mock Kevin Johnson isn't close to the BPA at 14 for us. If this plays out Gurley for sure imo.

All depends where Miami has him ranked. BPA is not a universal list, every team has a different list on who they think are the best players. For all we know, Miami has Johnson rated above Waynes and Gurley off their board because of injury.

I would look to trade down. Is Johnson a better football player than Gurley, Collins, or Gordon?
Not even close.
Johnson is not the BPA at 14 so it isn't happening IMHO

While I agree with you about the bpa part (minus Collins) this is exactly the type of move we've made in the past.

I see your logic but I don't see how we could pick Johnson or even Waynes for that matter over Gurley imo. I think Johnson would be trying to fill a need rather than picking the best player. Doubt he'd get picked in the top 20 unless we get him, think we could trade back and still get him. In that scenario is be less salty over the pick.

Just watched some Draft Breakdown on Johnson and ehhhh.....not real impressed. Against FSU gave a ton of cushion and looked lost in run support. He held Greene all the way into the end zone but didn't get called.
