My god every night when I watch path to the draft, this guy has no opinion other than Matt Ryan this, Matt Ryan that. He asks the other commentators what they think and then bam! "no, you gotta go with the franchise qb! thats it." i mean, im cool with him having his opinion and im sure the guy knows plenty, but its gotten to the point where the guy is making an a$$ of himself on national tv. i love watching nfl network, but this guy is making it hard to stomach now. sorry if im venting, but i know alot of you have to feel the same.

I think hes pretty good at what he does except hes caught up in the matt ryan hype Matt Ryan will be good at best but i doubt a franchise QB.

He is right. It is all about the franchise QB if you don't have one. Its to bad we aren't sure if we have one yet and its even worse there isn't one in this draft that will go in the first round let alone the #1

There are others who say Ryan is the real deal. Pat Kirwin says that Floyd Reese, GM of the Giants, thinks he's the best player in the draft.

Me? I don't know. How can I say his intangibles are off the scale..I've never met him, his coaches and players. Just let Ireland/Parcells do their job. If they have serious doubts about Beck then maybe they have to go Ryan. If not then I hope it's Jake!

Dude, I could not agree more, and it's a shame because otherwise he's a great analyst. He's an alumnus of Boston College and personally knows Matt Ryan's family, so thats why he's campaigning so hard for him to go #1. It almost seems like hes being bribed as if hes going to get a percentage of Matt's money, so the higher he goes, the more he gets paid.

The way he talks about Ryan is despicable, and hes lying through his teeth. He is no where near the best player in the draft, and constantly says it on the show. It further angers me because he says we definantly need a quarterback "because of John Beck". John hasn't even been given a fair chance (Eli Manning?)! I wonder where hell be when Ryan is a bust sitting on his 60 million, all the while sending this franchise back for years.

H'ell probably say some BS like, "Well, the draft is hit and miss, so unpredictable ....". No thanks, Im happy with Chris Long.

i think everyone agrees that matt ryan is the best QB in the entire draft but the fact that he is the best QB doesn't make him a contender for the 1st overall spot...

and i agree with finfanatic that mayock is too focused on matt ryan...i have a high opinion on mayock but in this case he just shows that he is caught up in the hype for a player..no analyst who is on tv should do that..

No one is arguing that he isn't the best qb in the draft. The argument is whether or not he is worthly of the first pick. The majority of people don't feel he is worthy. He has an adequate arm, adequate mobility, and good size.

If your drafting a qb first. He better have better than adequate measurables!

After the Dolphins selected Satele last year, Mayock said Satele wouldn't get on the field all season. He wound up starting every game and being one of the top offensive line rookies.

Take him for what he's worth. He's just like all the other so-called draft gurus. He'll hit on some, he'll miss on some. Part of the reason he could be supporting Ryan is that every other analyst seems to be on the Long-Long bandwagon and maybe he wants to give a different perspective.

Putting Ryan aside, I'm continually amazed by fans who insist on devaluing the QB position. Until you get that position right, you could draft 100 Chris Long's and it wouldn't make a bit of difference.

Right now the dolphins have a big "maybe" at QB. How much time is enough time for Beck or any QB? Does he need all-pro receivers? An all-pro left tackle? What do the conditions need to be before we can properly judge him?

Well if you feel Russell was the best, then we have in Beck a high potential QB who OUTPERFORMED Russell in almost every statistic including a 6 pt higher QB rating, more rushing yards, more passing yards, fewer interceptions. You'd think with all the criticism about Beck fumbling vs a big stud like Russell, it wouldn't be close right? HOWEVER, Beck has only 2 more fumbles than that $60 million, ham-handed bloated monster! And while the Fins had one of the worst rushing yards stats in the league, Oakland was in the top 10.. so essentially Beck outperformed your No. 1 rated QB with the handicap of a weaker supporting cast. Yeah, but I know, Ryan's "different" :sidelol:
