Looks like the strength of the draft is right where we are hurting, lb, edge, db.

What are Darron Lee's (Ohio St) weaknesses? His speed to the ball is ridiculous+

Surprised that Mayok has A'Shawn Robinson so low at interior defensive line. Lots of talent in that grouping, though.

I think he is seriously under the radar. As for weakness, probably just lack of size which limits him to the weakside.

Just experience. Pretty sure he wasn't a LB until college.

Mayock has weird groupings that lead to comparing guys like Ragland and Lee or Floyd/Spence and Bosa/Lawson/Dodd, but I still enjoy these. By group:

DL - Nkemdiche and Robinson look to be the class of the group from a talent perspective, and unless Buckner shows to be a true freak athlete, I think people are significantly overrating him. Reed and Rankins are nice players, but I don't see them on Robinson's level.

Edge - Early to call this one, but I'm not as high on Spence or Floyd as Mayock.

I'd have Jack over Smith and Lee over Ragland (though again, weird to compare the two). I'd also put Cravens ahead of Jones.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Jackson III from Houston or King leapfrog Apple, Jones, or both.

Would have liked to see Ramsey grouped with the S's. To my eyes, Slimm's guy Byars is about as good as (if not better than) anyone in this grouping (since he didn't include Ramsey). I've always liked Bell, and Joseph reminds me of a more athletic L. Collins.

Plus, I view Buckner as a defensive end who can slide inside on passing downs. Mayock usually does his best work on corners so I tend to look at that more than other positions.

I think Robinson is the top DT, but I'd be happy with Reed in a trade down scenario. Some serious talent on that Alabama defensive line.

Agree with you on linebackers. Hard to compare weakside to middle. There are some great weakside linebackers in this draft. I think Jack, Smith and Lee fit there best. Ragland is the best MLB IMO, but it's a fair argument as to his value at #8.

The love for Buckner bothers me; he won DPOY in a conference (not known for D (Stanford & Utah the exceptions)) on a squad that was god awful. Oregon's D ranked in triple digits. They allowed Utah to hang 62 on them and allowed a shell shocked & outmatched TCU to come back and win the Bowl Game.

There IMO is minimal difference between Buckner & S Calhoun (both 5 Techniques). The major difference being Mich St had a much better D.

I thought Desmond King was returning to Iowa for his senior season?

I know I'm alone with what I'm about to say but Jack doesn't really excited me. In fact kinda like the guy the Vikes took last year from UCLA more.

Not so fast.

The dolphin "luck" has started early on us. Yes!! Great year for lb. However, the 2 that are worth the # 8 pic are coming off knee injuries and you know how that works for us. I wouldnt touch any at #8 as they are a major risk to make the season and if they do they wont play anywhere close to their pre injury skill level.

At #8, we now go to our next pressing needs and Corner and DE are up and both positions will have a player worthy of the #8 spot. Go lb later. IF one of the blown knee lbers is around later in the 1st, still NO as its the same reason at any spot, they are a risk, probably wouldnt live up to their status and this team cant afford a hi round bust or take a flyer on a player. Every pic must be as sure as a rookie draft choice can be.

Were not the broncos, we cant afford to hide a player for a year or so. Its just the way the cookie has crumbled this year.
