Mike Mayok for GM

Well, if we're going that route I'd prefer Kiper. Seriously. Nothing to do with personnel. The franchise desperately needs a likable fan friendly approach, somebody who can step in front of a microphone and connect with the fans, even if it's partially a running joke. I don't know how many times I've complained about Jeff Ireland and his stone faced approach, accompanied by few words. When I was a kid we had the eccentric and bombastic Joe Thomas at general manager, followed by beach boy Bobby Beathard and the charismatic grin. Everybody was memorable. Even Joe Robbie was a howl, ranting against the city commission seemingly a half dozen times per year. You could see the steam.

Lately we've had a series of guys who can't communicate and lack any threat of warmth. How is that going to translate to ticket sales or fan interest or benefit of a doubt?

It shouldn't be impossible to find somebody with bare minimal competence in front of a microphone. Granted, everybody has strengths and weaknesses. But it's not automatically a terrifying experience, as someone else described in a thread today. I've done it countless times, primarily at handicapping seminars and some radio events in Las Vegas. I'm confident in that setting. The aspect I didn't like was the aftermath. If you perform well then people in the audience like to approach when you're finished. All of a sudden there are phone numbers and email addresses, everybody wanting to be your pal and discuss angles they specialize in. No thanks. I like to wander away anonymously and be free to spill things on my shirt, without anyone noticing or caring.

Please stop bogarting that joint and pass it on. Please! I'd take Mayock over Kiper any day of the week. Do you even watch the drafts? Kiper blunders it year after year while Mayock seems to be pretty spot on. Not saying I want Mayok right now, but Kiper? HAHA

You need to know more than football to be a GM. You have to be able to manage things, people, scout, and have some experience

I like Mayock but idk how good a GM he would be. I bet someone hires him in the future though.

I like watching Mayock on Thursday nights. I like how he analyzes the game like he's scouting. I know I'm a football geek when I actually like the concept of watching film with a professional talent evaluator. I think he's a lot better than Gruden at explaining the fine points of what you're witnessing.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If either Mayock or Kiper had run all the drafts that Ireland did for us, we'd be a MUCH MUCH BETTER football team. When you're hearing these guys on draft night, year after year give feint or no praise for Ireland's picks and they wind up being right and Ireland winds up being wrong year after year, it makes me, as a fan, wanna slam my head against a wall.

Bring Mayock in for an interview.....bring Ozzie director of scouting in for an interview Ozzie ain't coming....let's visit the green bay family again who is Ted Thompson right hand man? What is Scott Piolli doing? Or is he too close to Parcells?
How is the GM in Seattle? He seems to be finding some players.

We have talent on this team ..... Let GM Decide what to do with coaching staff.....find somebody how can develop talent ... I wanted to think Philbin was our guy but I have my reservations now. If Philbin stays on we have to get an offensive coordinator who brings us
Who can put our guys to do what they do best...

Mike Mayock is terrible. He looks at the hips more than playmaking ability, another run of the mill quasi draft guru.

Lombardi was an executive with San Francisco, Cleveland, St. Louis Rams, Philadelphia, and Oakland BEFORE going into broadcast... Mike Mayock was drafted in the TENTH round by Pittsburg, cut, played one game for the Toronto Argonauts, cut, and then played two seasons for the Giants.

That said, Mayock has a better football mind than Ireland. And he played the game.
I would rather have a proven GM and veteran HC. I am tired of all this on the job training.

I like Charles Davis better. LOL!

Nobody has said Todd McShay yet???

I saw Kiper mentioned.

Jamie Dukes?

C'Mon Man! These guys are not GM's. They are TV Analysts and draft experts. They do not deal with the Inner workings of the GM position. I agree they seem to know what they are talking about when they speak, but heck I tend to believe I could do a better job at drafting and putting together a team than some GM's at times. Don't we all??? Heck, I can put a mad team together on Madden so I must know what I am doing right?
