Mike McCoy = Young Don Shula

Yet, the wildcat did not save Henning or Lee's job.

Ponder this; The offense that NOLA, the pats, Colts w/ Peyton, Green Bay to a degree is nothing more than a modified/adapted run & shoot.

These guys didnt win a play off game either.

What I can't understand is why so many people are intersted in hiring canidates for coaching positions like McCoy, Fisher and Haley(as a OC) when they have all shown a run heavy philosophy. Yet, before this season started , so many were calling for Sparanos head, in part, for the very same reason.

a young shula oh my god this is worse than thinking every player out of canada will be a stud now. fact when shula got his first head coaching job , detroit had the best defense in the nfl under his guidance, thats how he got his head coaching job.so being 23rd in offense is equivilant reason to hire this clown lol

I have this mental picture of Ross sitting in his office with head shots of all the candidates lying in front of him on the desk, thinking, "Which one of these LOOKS the most like the young Don Shula?"

Shula was good for that time. thats like saying "we want a young Vince Lombardi". this is a new era, a new age of football. we need a guy for this time, for today's game. we need that man to be the next "him", not another "them". we need to be in the 'now'.

You probably aren't that far off!

so mike shula is next coach lol

You need more than the next Don Shula. Shula's greatness had a lot to do with his front office. We had Joe Thomas, Bobby Beathard and George Young running things back in the day. Today we've got Mr. Ireland, who no more resembles Joe Thomas or Bobby Beathard than Mike McCoy resembles Don Shula. I remember before Super Bowl 17 reading an article, think it was in the Herald, talking about how Beathard had his fingerprints all over both squads that were in the Super Bowl that year. Our glory years throughout the seventies and early-eighties were thanks to foundations that were laid by great front offices. Does anyone remember that we drafted very good players that never actually played for us--Joe Theismann, Gary Fencik and Leon Gray are just three guys I can recall from memory. All of them made 1st team All-Pro at least once, and Gray was one of the best linemen of the seventies. What I wouldn't give for a great front office.

They've been screwing up left and right for years now, might as well keep that rolling and hire McCoy. Who, btw, no one is talking about. And most probably never heard of before recently. Dumb.

therefore no evidence to discount him lol

The guys who think Mike McCoy is the next Shula are typically the same people who think that Miami can get a great quarterback in the 6th round just because NE got Brady there.

Look at all the young coaches that get chewed up and spit out for life. For every 100 of them, there is one Shula. Same with lower round quarterbacks and Brady.
