I watched the game again, [had it TiVo'd]. Is it just me, or does Mullarkey know NOTHING about Buffalo. As if he completely forgot their defensive scheme's and weaknesses.

To only come with 6 points in 2 games vs his old team is pathetic. And those 6 points came up in GARBAGE time in the 1st game of the season.

Sean Payton went to Dallas and completely picked off that defense like he knew exactly what to call for in every defensive set, and he wasn't even their head coach! :shakeno:

Our team looked too much like the Wannstedt ERA in Buffalo, except we didn't have a career back up [Sammy Morris] carrying the load for most of the game. Wayyy too conservative IMO.

I expect a little more aggresiveness against the Jets.

It has something to do with Miami having Joey Harrington and playing in crappy weather and NO having MVP canidate Drew Brees and playing in nice weather but I could be wrong.

buffalo is running a totally different d scheme than what he had. PLus we had rookies and back ups starting which usually makes Moolarkey panic and can't gameplan against.

Its because not only did Mularkey leave, so did the rest of the coaching staff. We've gone from Jerry Gray's constant kamikazee-suicide-blitz-on-every-play scheme to Dick Jauron's cover 2 I'm-in-my-laz-e-boy-I'll-just-sit-back-and-chill scheme. I really couldn't think of two defensive systems that are more dissimilar to one another.

And while our weakness last year was the deep pass because of our old and slow safeties (Milloy, Vincent), both of those safeties are gone now in favor of a pair of youthful, speedy rookies (Whitner, Simpson). Nate Clements is also playing at a much higher level than last season, so our secondary which was a weakness last year is much improved.

Also, Sam Adams is gone now and we don't really have a run stopping specialist in the middle. Perhaps all of these things explain why (at least in the 1st game) Meathead Mularkey thought he could throw the ball on us when he really should have been pounding the rock over and over again, which he refused to do.

And you compare this to Sean Payton, who went to Dallas facing the EXACT SAME defensive scheme he coached alongside a year before, with the same people running that defense.

One of the keys to beating the cover 2 is TEs down the seam. It's how the Patriots gashed us. Hit the TE a couple of times and you get big gains and it opens the run. I believe Harrington tried to hit McMichaels a couple of times, but I remember at least one occasion where he dropped the pass.

But like the other guys mentioned, we have gone to a totally different defensive scheme under our new coaching staff. It's the quintessential "bend-but-don't-break" which, when it works, keeps other teams working very hard for whatever points they can get.

I believe the difference between Payton and Mularkey is that one is a good coach and the other is awful. It's a joke that if the Dolphins go behind by 7 points they can abandon the running game. Attacking the Bills through the air with the winds swirling in Buffalo rather than running the ball is a pathetic job of coaching by Mularkey. I know many Bills fans and they all laughed at the Mularkey hiring. I thought maybe he would have some of the success that he had in Pittsburgh, I was clearly wrong.

Huh? Joey didn't play in the first game and the weather in Mijami was balmy back in September. Your argument doesn't fly here fella.

But yes Meathead alot to do with those 2 losses. :cooldude:

I just figured Mularkey was out of his league with a head coaching job and he'd do well as an OC. Guess i was wrong about that....

Running the ball didnt work and passing it wouldnt work bc Mularky would throw at the wrong times, and he called awful plays

I was talking about last weeks week game not the second game of the season.

Well that settles it: fire Mularkey 10,002 votes vs. keep Mularkey 1 vote. Except that one dissenting vote is the SABANATOR! Hey Nick if Bama meets your demands take Big Mike with you. Y'all don't come back here ya?

malarky was a huge mistake.huge mistake.when he was signed i had a very bad feeling
