Of all the choices I've seen for head coach the one that gets me a little bit excited is Mike Munchak. He is currently the o-line coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The man played LG for the old Houston Oilers and was in 9 Pro Bowls and he was voted into the Hall Of Fame in 2001. This guy is seriously tough. He is the anti-Gase. We sure could use his tough approach down here in Miami. This guy seems great. I believe he's had one shot at Head Coaching. He was fired from Houston in 2013. But, we could use a big dose of old school toughness. Those who crave Dan Cambell should see similarities with Munchak. I don't know a ton about the guy but he does make my toes tingle a little bit. That's a shout out to Jim Mandich #88.

I think he was the TEN coach, not HOU. Other than that, while he wouldn’t be on my shortlist, I’d be ok with him because of what you said above.

IDK, i'm not a fan of the type of demeanor a coach has as one of the important qualities I look for. I want someone who has is defensive minded and also has had success with multiple teams. It doesn't have to be success as a head coach but rather just success that proves it wasn't a one time thing. My top 3 in no specific order are

Vic Fangio
Kris Richards
Gregg Williams

I like your list but would like them in that order. Actually Richard's and Fangio are tie for me.

The Steeler's o-lines have been excellent under Munchak. They call him "Magic Mike"for his ability to coach up players and make them good players. Our biggest weakness is o-line. We need to get it fixed once and for all. I'd trust Munchak to field a quality o-line and he would insert some of that old school toughness into our offense. The problem is there's a ton of teams lining up to talk to him.

I would love to have 2 of those 3! Either Vic or Gregg at HC and Kris at DC. Make Kris the asst HC and groom him to take over once either Greg or Vic is ready to retire.

He's the type of guy who will be as successful as his OC/DC

Between munchak, fangio, Richard, it certainly seems Grier is searching for someone w/ a tough demeanor

AnY OL coach would be fine if you had Villanueva, DeCastro and Pouncey on your OL lol

Some interesting info on Munchack from his last time as HC and what the staff could look like potentially...

On D in Tennessee DC was Jerry Gray, currently DB coach for Vikings I believe. Other notable coaches that were on that staff at some point were Gregg Williams and Frank Bush (current fins LB coach)

On O, in 2011 the QB coach was Dowell Loggains, who got promoted to OC after Chris Palmer was fired in November 2012. He was joined by Shawn Jefferson (current fins WR coach) in 2013, who served as WR coach.

That's going to be the case with every HC, and a crucial aspect of who is ultimately hired: who is he going to be able to bring in as his coordinators?

True. I was agreeing with the poster noting coaches with a tough attitude. I LOVE those guys and they can be successful. The HC instills the attitude. The OC/DC turn it into strategy.

Yikes. Other than Williams, the other guys are stiffs.
