I'm a little bit behind on my Fin news and I just learned that we have a new DC in Mr. Mike Nolan. All I could remember about him was his pitiful record for the 49ers, I didn't even know he was coaching the Bronco's D this year. So I looked up his stats and they are not impressive at the NFL level (page only provides his 49ers stats - you'll have to click around a bit to see how his teams performed earlier in the decade). Seems to me, he is cashing in after his one good year. What does everyone think about the hire?

Why dont you just scroll back a few pages and look at all the threads on Mike Nolan. If all you want is people's opinions on the hire, theres a wealth of information just a page back or two.

And, T. Cody is a little bit fat.

If this was most other forums I'd assume this to be a troll post but maybe not this time?

Next post is.... "I heard a lot of people thought Dan Marino was good, but...."

I think it's called gettin paid! Nah, man that is just silly. Mini-Bellicheck over in Denver thought he blitzed too much and basically pushed him out of Denver by saying he was going to force him to blitz less next year. Not cool for a coach to force a coordinator into playing a different type of ball than he wants to.
Listen, it's not like Nolan got some head coaching pay for this position, so he isn't "cashing in". He just did not enjoy McDaniels trying to push him around (which he would take the fall for if it didn't work out) and the contract he was in was set up to expire just before a potential lock out after next season, which is a real dick move on the Broncos part.

Mike Nolan wants financial security (contract through a possible lock out) and professional freedom to run the defense the way he sees fit. I think he has both of those things coaching for us. WIN/WIN

It looks like you're not just behind on fins news...:ponder:

For him to be 'cashing in' means he would have to be getting promoted or getting paid much more.

He took a lateral job, from DC to DC ...

I've seen a couple fo websites made by rabid 49'er fans which really drag him through the mud. The 49'ers defense was not their problem when he was their HC. The QB they drafted was and remains that team's problem.

That guy makes Henne look like Marino. Have you heard of him?

Where was Mike Nolan 'before' the niners?
Didn't he run a pretty good defense over in Baltimore??

If you didn't know he was the Broncos D coordinator this past year, then you obviously don't follow the NFL at all, and thus shouldn't try to analyze coaching "stats".
This was a very good hire.

I believed we have agreed to not call him T. Cody. You can use one of the preselected names below:

a) Cody The Hutt
b) Stay Puffed Marshmallow Man
c) The Michelin Man
d) John Goodman
e) Son of Rex Ryan
f) The Blob

I don't think Mike Nolan's head coaching record is relevant to what he will do as a defensive coordinator. You may remember a coach in San Francisco named George Seifert?.....he would have been elected to the Hall of Fame, but then he decided to go coach the Carolina Panthers and had a 1-15 record there in his last year and then got fired. Sometimes great coaches have little talent to work with and therefore they lose and get fired.
