Mike Nolan keeps a level head after Dolphins' defensive collapse

Marino hit the nail on the head on that radio show.....the Pats receivers were given 15 yards cushion. We should have at least jammed them within the first 5 yards. Didn't happen even once.

actually, i did see it once, but when you throw close to 50 times, it aint sayin much.

Everyone is freaking out about this Defensive collapse. However, why is it that no one mentions that the Pasties also allowed almost 500 yards on them as well and 28 points. I mean, this D will correct its mistakes and move on. It won't happen again in my opinion.

I want to see what he comes up with to slow down Shaub. Houston lives on roll out play action and roll out passing schemes. Going to drive our DEs and OLB insane all day long.

I have been thinking about this whole defensive collapse all week and one thing keeps coming to mind.

It wasn't very long ago that a Miami team strolled into Foxboro and made a damn good Pats team look like fools by hanging 461 yards of offense and 38 points on a team that was bewildered by the Wildcat.

Miami's defense is not 600+ yards a week bad. Will they end up Top 5 in the league, who knows but they are most certainly not going to end up bottom 10 in the league either.

My thoughts exactly. The more important thing too watch is if Chad and the Offense can consistantly move the ball and score, if they do, the Defense will show up soon enough, and Miami will be able to do some damage in the regular season.

the pats won last i checked.

I hate to be the Debbie Downer, but I believe you are wrong.. Miami has a multi-year history of allowing the cushion and I dont see it changing in 5 days... Telling your guys to jam... and press.. is a lot easier said than done..

I think we all forget that the Pats can make any defense look ridiculous, I remember them beating the Jets 45-3 last year, yet we all know the Jets D is a good D. The commentators on Monday Night didn't help either, they were bashing on our D when the game was still just 21-17. I actually saw some good things Monday, there was one point Brady had like 10 seconds back there (poo poo on the pass rushers) but our coverage made him throw it away, that is pretty impressive if you ask me. We will be fine; our roof is not on fire.

While I agree that the roof isn't on fire I would rather see a proactive defense instead of a reactive defense. When is the last time we imposed our will on an opponents offense. That's a huge problem with nolans scheming and sporanos coaching. You've got vontae out there claiming to be the best, sporano needs to challenge him to prove it. The only thing our defense proved this week is you don't let your mouth write a check that your butt can't cash

I hope that Nolan tells the dbs to put their hands on the wrs this week. I hate seeing all the opponents wrs free release near the goal line and on third downs. That is my biggest gripe from the Pats game, we're playing a timing based offense and all our dbs are playing 6 yards off.

Especially 1 yards off on the our own 1 yard line and Wes and Brady talking with their eyes prior to snap as if we couldn't see that quick toss not coming - our DB was too exhausted to one look up and secondly to get to the line of scrimmage to tie up Welker

Interesting call, with the Patriots buried in their own end-zone, they (Patriots) call a pass to an isolated Wes Welker, it makes you wonder what the Dolphins would have called if the score and game were reversed, with us protecting the lead?

It is impotent that the corrections occur. Cam Wake, Reshad Jones, and Sean Smith made a lot of technical mistakes. They just need to clean that up a little. I am glad that Nolan is calm and that he understands the defense will not clean up all of these issues in one week. It is very important for the offense to play well this week.
There's a Freudian slip for ya'.
