The Dolphins gave the kind of money to suggest they trust Mike Pouncey implicitly.
But at the press conference to commemorate his new $45 million extension, Pouncey broke down and talked about all the missteps the Dolphins aren’t apparently worried about.
“When I look back at my career, I could have done so many things better,” Pouncey said, putting his head in his hands, via Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald. “So many things I put my family through.
“I never doubted my talent on the football field. But it takes more than that.”
Pouncey has created his share of headaches for the Dolphins, from his “Free Hernandez” hat in the wake of college teammate Aaron Hernandez’s murder charges, to his involvement in the team’s bullying scandal. Other issues, such as an interview which seemed to be ripping former teammate Mike Wallace, have also been distractions, even if not of the legal variety.
“I’ve never really been in any trouble,” Pouncey said. “But there were little stupid things that caused problems for my family.

Those aren't problems. That's just free speech...and don't think for a minute that philbin and others didn't enjoy the Wallace rant.

Its a great day to be a Miami Dolphins Fan.....

As long as he's learning from his missteps I'm not really worried about it. He just better play up to that contract.

Sounds like a guy that is being vulnerable, genuine and really wants to be a better man. Good on him.

He is all choked up on finsiders, says he is so appreciative of coach philbin always having his back. That he will repay the loyalty and faith placed in him on and off the field.

Did he go full Rod Tidwell?

Seems genuine. Good for him, maybe he has grown.

On a side note, poor Hickey is painfully awkward in front of a crowd. You can see why A smooth talker like Tannenbaum was needed in the FO

Say what you want but he is a team first guy. From playing out of position to help the team, to trashing the malcontent that is Wallace publicly. He appears to be a locker room leader and him trashing Wallace should help silence any dissenting voices in the locker room who were with Wallace
