My biggest problem with Mike Smith was his last 2 years in Atlanta as head coach. He couldn't seem to get the defense to play any better, and the whole team lost its edge...not dissimilar to Philbin's effect over the last couple of years.

I think it was said that we have offered a consultant role to Mike Smith who declined. No such offer was made to Schwartz.

I know we offered the DC role to Schwartz which he said no. Latest reports said we considered Schiano and Smith for Defensive positions (didn't say in what capacity) as well but no confirmation that we actually ever reached out to them. Just that we considered them

Depending on the contract, players/coaches can still get paid by their former team even if they take another role with another team. Getting paid double to do one job isn't a bad gig

No that wouldn't be a bad thing either. I don't think Dimitroff and Blank would have set him up to double dip. No matter, he never impressed me here in Atlanta. He was suppose to be a defensive guru coming in but this year under Quinn is the first time they actually have anything that resembles a real defense. Not a big Smitty fan.
