I think the Quinn move might be the top move he has made since being with the Fins. Which moves do you believe are his top three or top five?

Dump!

Crickets.

Guy hasn't made any including this one. Only way this trade goes into the "win" column is if Quinn can actually play out his contract. Dude has missed a ton of games due to injuries. You want an example of a player dealing with back injuries... please see Gronk. Dude can't stay on the field. But hey he'll look good standing on the sideline in street clothes

he seemed to be a fairly popular basketball agent.

His best move was cutting all that dead Ireland weight in 2015. Ellerbe, Wheeler, Hartline, Wallace, Gibson, etc. it meant taking on a lot of dead cap but it was a proper time to purge.

I also think the Ryan Tannehill early extension showed great foresight into how the market for QBs would skyrocket and he also gave himself reasonable outs in the contract in case Ryan did not improve.

This Quinn move needs time to be honest. On the surface it is a solid attempt to get an elite pass rusher at a young age. On the other hand he has an injured past and adds another high salary to an already overly expensive defensive line.

Not to mention he throws away important mid draft draft picks like they are candy.

A 3rd for Stills
A 4th and a 6th in the Carroo trade (took their third and gave up a third also)
A 4th in the Maxwell/Alonso trade
A 4th for the trade up for Xavian Howard
A 4th for Quinn

Those are 5 young cheap contracts that a team like Miami sorely miss to ensure cap health and develop their own.

I have heard there is little risk with the Quinn deal. Not true, Quinn needs to come here and be healthy and be a stud. You can’t keep giving up core picks for guys who are higher priced or don’t have four cheap years in place. It is a recipe for mediocrity.

we used to be a crap team but we're always in good shape cap wise. now we are a crap team with no cap.....i have faith that this year will be better than last and we are set up nicely to remove a lot of dead weight next year, let's see what he does.

A 3rd for a 23 YO Stills on his rookie contract I have no problem whatsoever with... It's actually a good deal...
A 4th and a 6th in the Carroo trade (took their third and gave up a third also) This is a bad one unless Landry leaves and Carroo outplays him... Highly unlikely
A 4th in the Maxwell/Alonso trade Bad one
A 4th for the trade up for Xavian Howard This I have no problem with, Howard looks like he could be a real good one
A 4th for Quinn This I have no problem with... risky but no more than drafting a pass rusher in the 4th

Well said. Just what I’m saying in another thread. It’s actually not surprising some may think this Quinn deal is Tannenbaums best move. Another core draft pick is gone.

You're much more likely to get decent pass rushing production from Quinn than any 4th round pick you can think of...

Just my opinion of course but I would have kept Miller, Mathews, Grimes, Ajayi and Wheeler. Why cheap salaries, younger productive players whom give the team draft flexibility. Oliver and Laundry are different stories because of their cap hit and in hindsite should have been signed a year earlier prior to their contracts expiring. To replace these guys we have given up a ton of money in fa signing as well as draft picks to move up in the draft. That first year we sign and aquire Foster, Mario Williams, Jones, Branch, Kiko Alanso, Byron Maxwell plus gave up a ton of picks to move down in the 1st round, up in the 2nd round, up in the 3rd round to attempt to reaquire the cheaper talent that just walked out the door. You keep those guys then maybe if you trade down in that first round you get a extra pick, along with keeping thise extra picks in the 2nd and 3rd you gave up for Howard and Caroo. Most likly I remember thinking Howard will probably be there in the 2nd round but this is a panic move because at the time the corner back position apears void and we have to fill it. Caroo would look much better today as just a 4th round failure, and IMO he was aquired to replace Mathews. Tbum really has positioned us in panic modes either in the draft and are cap space and whats really amazing about it he has done it in just 2 seasons. Pretty scary.

Yep, quinn is better than basically any prospect you could get in the fourth

Agreed. While no one can be certain on Quinn, the trade itself is very un-TBaum-like. Actually feels like he didn't get taken this time. Like every trade/draft/signing, thre are risks involved, but the trade makes sense and the price was acceptable.

Agree though the trade for Stills was excellent IMO.
