Mike Wallace - WR - Dolphins

Mike Wallace said the Dolphins' new offensive scheme is "my style."
Fired OC Mike Sherman believed in a quick-hitting, horizontal West Coast offense. Wallace was predictably a square peg in that scheme, simply lining up as a right-side clear-out receiver the majority of the time. He set career-lows in YPC (12.7) and touchdowns (5). New OC Bill Lazor is about chunk plays and moving his best players all over the formation. Wallace has bounce-back appeal.

Hopefully, Tannehill can work on that deep ball. Start watching some Big Ben tape.

I'll bet he is happy. Every time he looks at his bank statement he makes an "O" face!

but.....does he feel like a room without a roof?

His level is too high
Can't nothing bring him down

Still baffles me how Sherman never thought of moving Wallace around at the line to create mismatches.....

Amen. The guy has a particular skill set that just screams for a mis-match. Why anybody wouldn't exploit that is beyond me.

I just want him to understand not EVERY ball is going to be perfect. I expect him to compete for some of the those that aren't in the perfect position.

Nobody likes being set up to fail.

And I'm sure as much complaining by fans of overpaying a one-trick pony, there is probably an unbelievable side to this story in which Wallace wanted to do more to earn his salary than most would admit.

Ego WRs aren't just looking to be paid like the Top WRs in the game, they want the stats to back up their claim. At some point, a fan has to realize it doesn't matter how a particular player motivates himself to perform or responds when he isn't getting his perceived chances. If the player is wanting to help you win by producing great stats then he is indirectly trying to help your team win. Its on the coaches if they don't utilize a person correctly or manage him in such a way that yields the most production from his talent and effort.

I saw a dejected player on the field last year when I looked at Wallace. He may not have Brian Hartline's dedication and team attitude or Gibson's adaptability and desire to go get a ball, but he does have a lot of underutilized traits. Until we have a coach that can get the most out of him, we are unfairly judging him.

I for one, in frustration, have done so in the past year. But I do realize he's not being used correctly.

I bet if u asked Wallace last offseason he would have said the same thing about last year's offense.
Don't worry if he succeeds he will say I told u so and if he fails he will place blame on everything but himself.
He has never been the player that his delusional mind thinks he is. He is a nice wr but he is not some guy that abut to break the nfl touchdown record with ease or even come close to while trying

I'm really expecting big things from the Wallace/Tanne connection this year. I'm confident Wallace can go for 1200/8, which would be a fine year.

Man I haven't been more excited for a season since... last season! ;)
