Miller coming into his own

It'll be hard for him to have the same success he did thursday vs the bucs.

***Breaking News*** ESPN is reporting that Lamar Miller is being investigated for bullying Daniel Thomas into getting more carries. Seriously though it's nice to talk football. I really think the running game makes everything bad go away on offense. I like what I'm seeing. Let's build his confidence and take pressure off Tanny. He deserves it. Let's hope all this nonsense gets the fellas to Circle the wagons. This might be the springboard to a winning streak....

I don't know this kid has not had more carries he is the only one in the backfield with elite anything.

Both of his long runs should have been TO THE HOUSE....If we don't see Atleast 30 carries and a few deep throws Sherman should do us a favor and quit.

After a rough start....going down too easily...he's seemed finally found his grove. I like a lot of what he brings to the field and the Dolphins need to get him the ball more

Another great Ireland pick =]. This reminds me of Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams. Now it's Miller and James.

I thought it was a steal getting him in the fourth round.

Only Washington’s Alfred Morris (5.20) and Dallas’ DeMarco Murray (4.83) are averaging more yards per carry among running backs in the National Football League than Miller’s 4.81. He has rushed for 448 yards on 93 attempts with two touchdowns and also has 13 receptions for 72 yards, which has garnered him more confidence from offensive coordinator Mike Sherman in terms of getting more chances.

Miller had his first career 100-yard rushing game last Thursday night at home against the Cincinnati Bengals (16 rushes for 105 yards) and racked up 89 of those in the first half. One of those runs went for 41 yards before the Bengals’ Carlos Dunlap jarred the ball loose from behind, but he’s had runs of 49 and 30 yards this season that showed off his speed once he reaches the second level.

I think he is one of the bright spots on offense finally starting to run with authority and breaking a few tackles. The speed was always there
Monday night his opposite will be Mike James of the Bucs who was his teammate in college
Looking for another big game as i'm thinking our O line will be much better at run blocking than pro pass protection.

thoughts ?

Maybe it was the camera angles but it seemed like Miller is fast and QUICK and SMART. On a couple of plays against the Bengals, he really seemed to follow his blocks well, cuts were on a dime, and he was always decisive. He's not a jinker, he's a slasher. I love it!! My only complaint was his decision to run up the middle of the field instead of outside when he fumbled. If he'd been against the left sideline he might have protected the ball better. Then again, I'm not sure how he's gonna know which way is best to go without rear view mirrors.

P.S. Thanks for posting about anything other than the current scandal. I am so sick of it!

Man if he could have stayed to the middle of the field or left hash he would have scored. How did he not score is beyond me. But he is fast and he did get to the edge and the bam he was straight up the field in a blink of an eye. He is only going to get better. I needs more opportunities.

I think what we saw against the Bengals was the start of something better from Miller. Those jumbo packages with extra linemen really helped get Miller the blocking he needed to actually make something happen on the ground. As many have pointed out, Miller excells at hitting the edge and accelerating. If the Dolphins can get him some decent blocking to allow him the time to hit the edge or hit a seam, Miller will have continued success. I am also impressed with his toughness for being such a speedy back. While not a bruiser or a guy who will run you over, he seems to consistently hit the holes hard, take the hits, get back up and do it again.

If Sherman has any kind of offensive head on his shoulders he will realize Miller's current success and utilize him more. Sherman must develope some schemes to take advantage of Miller and also use Miller as a short option receiver for Tannehill. That will alleviate some of the pressure on Tannehill and keep the D of the Bucs honest with Miller having success on the ground. This Bucs game in my opinion will be a major test for Sherman as much as it is for Miller.

He looks good.....it's amazing what can happen when he actually gets some competent blocking in front of him. A few weeks ago, I said that Miller and Thomas would be lucky to combine for 1,000 yards rushing. Now, Miller is practically on pace for 1,000 himself.

I still have high hopes for miller. His only down side is lack of strength or tackle breaking ability. He needs to hit the weight room this offseason and put some muscle mass on. Or do like popeye does and slam a can of spinach before kickoff.

Why did he start with 89yds in the first half, and only finish with 105!!! i hate that we always abandon the damn run in the second half.

I agree for the Buffalo and New England games, but to be fair, the Dolphins barely had the ball in the second half against Cincinnati. The drive to tie it had to pretty much be all passes because there was so little time left.
