Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel expects Packers to use tag on Flynn now

Thats risky for them, im not sure many teams would Pay Flynn top qb money and give up draft picks, if they do it I want Tannehill at 8 or 9.

yeah see the pack will take less in trade for flynn but they will end up getting something if they tag him and can work out a deal...and this weekend look for the pack gm to be testing the waters...i'm betting someone ponies up a 2nd round pick at least

that someone could still very much be us...

Big blow to Philbin and the Dolphins.

Why? Just don't trade for him and let him ride the Packers bench for more money than Rodgers. I'm sure they'd be putting themselves in hot water if they decide to franchise him. Added to that, what kind of value do they feel they deserve in return for a 7th rounder... a 1st and 3rd?..NO THANK YOU! I'd pass

14 mil to sit the bench. wow.

dont see ireland sending a pick to these guys. I see us drafting tannehill and manning is #1 on the list.

Big blow to Philbin and the Dolphins.

Maybe,or maybe not if as the saying goes: "familiarity breeds (or in this case bred) contempt". In other words let's not automatically assume Philbin wants him.

Now on the other hand I'd assume this was welcome news to the agents of Tannehill and Weeden.

I'd really like if someone could explain the Franchise Tag from the new CBA, I've heard too many times that you can't franchise someone just to trade them. And now I'm hearing the Packers are looking to do just that???

I wouldn't say it's a big blow.
If he was their target at quarterback, yes it is a big blow. Now not only would they have to give Flynn a big contract they would probably have to give up a second or first round pick. This probably would scare them away from acquiring him which takes a big option off the table.

does anyone know if the tag means that you are guaranteeing the $14 mil off your cap for that season whether you trade them or not...cause if the pack can't get out of that $14 mil after tagging him and it counts against them whether they trade him or not i think the tage scenario for him is unlikely...but if they can get out of it by trade then yeah its very much in play...

and the suitors already know that flynn was gonna cost more than $14 mil guaranteed in free agency anyways so they could be still very much on board here...provided the draft pick compensation doesn't get in the top 20 picks...seattle and miami i think would still consider trading a 2nd rounder to acquire flynn
