I suggested earlier in the week that the players who have been here for since before 2004 ALL need to go because of a "losers mindset". Lo and behold, Chris Chambers comes out and basically backs me up. Check this out...

''I think it's a mindset,'' receiver Chris Chambers said. ``It's more having that sense of urgency, that same hunger that we had in the last quarter of the game when we start, that once we get the ball in our hands we're trying to score every opportunity.''

He admitting that the "mindset" the players go out with is not one that is conducive to victory. Now, he is talking specifically about not scoring in early in games (the Fins have scored ONE FG in their six games:lol: ), but it doesn't take a genius to extrapolate that its the same mindset that allows the Fins to continously come up short in winnable games (Buffalo, Houston, NYJ).

This team is frustrating as hell. If you want to make an accurate assessment of this team, think the worst. Assume the absolute worst scenario about every aspect of this team (HC, OC, offense, defense, STs, players, etc) and in due time, they will prove you right. Set your standards as low as possible, and this sorry bunch of assembled losers will sink right to them.

This is sad. Very sad...but very true. PLEASE GOD, GIVE US A COACH THAT WILL TURN THIS SORRY STATE OF AFFAIRS AROUND!

YOu're right about the players and wrong about the coach.

Chris Chamber is only re-stating what Saban has been trying to instill in them.

How does Saban catch a break? You people are amazing. You guys are like the mother who was at her son's military boot camp graduation and after they paraded by, she proudly says, "Everyone one was out of step by MY BOY!"

What more is it gonna take? In two years, we should see some progress.

EXACTLY! Thats the point--and the problem. This team is a direct reflection of what Nick Saban has instilled in them.

I have been saying that for awhile. These players have a losers mentality because they haven't won much. Even the older players like Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor haven't experienced much winning. Saban needs to change the culture of the entire organization and espically the players. Their now what the Bengals used to be before Marvin Lewis got there. It doesn't matter what new players they bring in every year, they still can't win.

You're half right. The culture of the entire organization needs to change, including the players. Saban should not be able to make that change since he is part of the problem. Wayne Huizenga should make that change and the changes should include the ENTIRE coaching staff. Every single one of them.

Another aspect of "loser mentality" is dropping footballs that hit you in the hands, and then make a spectacular catch. The good does not overcome the bad. Hear that CC ?

Love the optimism there Slingblade. If you think bad...

It amazes me that alot of you are expecting to see the full picture when maybe half the jigsaw has been completed.

Before any of you critcize my opinion; realize I'm miles away and some of my perception is based on the internet and the thoughts of those closer to the action.

I believe a team is a reflection of the coach, look at the Steelers, the toughness comes from the coach and what he demands from his players, thats if they respect him and buy into what is being taught. I think our players have have lost some respect and because of the losing they no longer buy into what is being taught. It very easy to go along with a system when you are winning. I think Saban has made some key mistakes in player evaluation and in hiring bad coaches. A coach has to fit a system into what players he has. When Shula had Zonk they where a running team, when he got Dan, they became a passing team. I think Saban is trying to force these players into a system that is not the best type of system for the players he has. Its time to step back and take a long hard look at what they have, what the need, and what it will take to get there. And if that means getting rid of some of these high paid players and rebuilding then do it.

:yeahthat:

This mindset is one Saban INHERITED, not extablished. He needs more time to weed out the players that, in Saban's words: "just don't get it". That usually takes 3-4 years, but the people on this board will never give him that much time. Sad but true.

That's exactly correct. I believe that the Phins actually outplayed the Texans, Pats and Jets but they lost because of untimely mistakes (turnovers, penalties).
They are playing like losing teams do, they are self destructing. Those are problems that you don't see from well coached teams.
When Saban made that reference to 3 types of players, he stated that there were those who don't get it and don't know they don't get it and there were only a few of those left.
I would argue that the majority of this team is made up of those types of players. So the problems is that the players are dumb or the coaching staff does not communicate well.

That's life in the big leagues. Childress, Linehan and Mangini seem to have things going in the right direction and I would argue their teams are less talented.

You have to give Saban some time to fix the mess he was left by Wanny and friends...I'm not saying that you cannot question some of his decisions but we as fans need to have some perspective.

We should not have gotten caught up in the pre-season hype with so many glaring areas of concern.
