Clay had the same knee operated on at the end of the 2012 season, and apparently re-aggravated the injury during Miami's scrimmage 10 days ago.
Clay, who caught 69 passes for 759 yards and scored a team-leading seven touchdowns last season, hasn't practiced since suffering the injury. However, he has caught passes form the jugs machine after every session, but in a stationary position. He tried running two days ago with a brace, but quickly stopped.
Clay hasn't participated in rehab assignments injured players usually do during practice. The Dolphins won't get into specifics about his injury outside of saying he'll be sidelined a couple practices.It is unknown if Clay will participate in the Dolphins' final three exhibition games.
