We all hope that Moving Misi inside will work out but, there are some doubts. A few things to consider.

Misi was far and away our best LB vs the run last year, and it was not close. He has done the same consistently since he got here, and is underappreciated by some.

He will very likely play about half the snaps as he did outside, and be replaced by a DB for all passing plays.

He is 6'3" and 250, and has shon the ability to take on OL blockers and shed them to make plays. Ellerbe is 6'1' and 228, which is OK in a 3-4 but, not for a MLB.

Ellerbe played the run as well as Misi in the 3-4 in Balt, and I expect the same at OLB.

Wheeler was average vs the run in Oak, while good in pass rush and cover, and we moved him to the oter side. Hard to believe but, True Story.

On the surface, it seems like the right thing to do. We shall see in camp, as there are no other options I'm seeing at this pont.

I don't understand why Misi can't make it Kevin Coyle said today he is very pleased with Misi at Mike so far. He has the size and run instincts to make it I think. Ellerbe is definitely better on the outside. This could be the answers to the run defense problem.

I like Misi but how does our best LB against the run manage just 30 solo tackles and 54 total tackles last year? Ellerbe and Wheeler both doubled those numbers. I mean you can discount stats if you like but great run stopping linebackers have to make tackles right? I'm pretty sure elite LBs like Kuechly and Navorro Bowman are putting up a 150 tackles a year.

For whatever reason, I did not know that Ellerbe was only 6'1" and 228. That's like the LB's at "The U."

I think that Misi playing less than half the snaps of Ellerbe and Wheeler "may" have had a little something to do with it.

Crazy then they subbed Misi out as much as they did. My mistake.

Yeah, Misi was in for 480 snaps, Ellerbe for 1030, and Wheeler for 1054. Hard to believe that Wheeler was on the field more than any LB with the year he was having.

I think Misi was battling a lingring injury last year as well. I know many guys do but seems like he started some games and didn't finish.

Ellerbe has not weighed 228 since college. He was 236 at the 2009 combine and is listed at 245 now.

I personally always thought, while not a perfectly ideal situation, having Misi in the middle would be better for Miami, and surprised last year with the coaching staff not making a change with the way Miami played against the run last year.

I think with Misi in the middle, Miami should be better against the run, they should be solid to above average, depending how the D-line minus Soliai is able to do up front against the opponent's O-line.

Wheeler does scare me a bit though, and hopefully the coaching staff will be keeping a sharp eye on him, and will not be afraid to replace him if he does not improve or becomes to huge a liability out there. Ellerbe has talent, and I have no doubt he will flourish in his 2nd year on the outside.

Even though I have no problem, and even like Misi being our M-LB, I do like that they are trying Tripp also at that position. He is not going to steal the job from Misi anytime soon, but I really have a good feeling about this kid doing some huge damage as early as late this years or next.

If Tripp can make the transition to the pros, Wheeler should be the odd man out.

Misi is a solid stout LB. If he can show some flexibiluty, it does nothing but add value to him in the league.
I hope he embraces the challenge and can show big stride in the transition.

I'm fine with Misi at MLB on 1st and 2nd down, but I'm curious if he is staying on the field during the nickle package....

Misi in the middle is perfect. Now if we can just move Jordan into Wheelers spot on 3rd downs....

Probably not. I think that's when we go to our speed package with Jenkins coming in for Misi during obvious passing situations.

I thought I read somewhere recently that him and Wheeler were staying on during nickle packages, which I found odd, but I honestly cant remember
