Being out here in the southwest, i dont get to see the phins play too often, but the few times I've been fortunate enough to see them, I've been disappointed in Saban's use of Ricky and Ronnie. I already have their offense figured out. If only one of the two are in, 80% of the time, it's going to be a run play. If both are in, it's going to be a pass. Miami needs to run with both lined up in the backfield...split them to confuse defenses...and for Christ's sake...RUN THE BALL MORE!!! we should have at least 40 rushing attempts per game, yet we're dismal with maybe 25 rushes between the two.

there were a few run plays this week with both of them in there

RB as the FB and Gus handed it off to him both times....so its getting mixed up a bit but i get your point, it should be more

No, Ricky is NOT in there way too much. He's averaging what, 7 carries a game? That is a very reasonable number of carries for a good change of pace back. Last season, two of the better change of pace backs were TJ Duckett and LaMont Jordan, and they ended up with about that.

The problem is Ronnie not getting enough, not Ricky getting too many. Subtle difference.

The question of how to use Ricky/Ronnie is an interesting one and the answer in part rests on how successful they are together and/or individually, and what are Saban's overall plans.

What I hope to see the Dolphis do is give Ricky plenty of carries/opportunities the remainder of the year (with or without Ronnie on the field). If Ricky produces on a pace similar to what he has in the past it will put the Dolphins in a position to trade him for a draft pick or for a need. How high a pick or what player will ultimately depend on his production, other running backs available in FA, and other teams needs. Of course, other factors such as attitude and negative drug screens (both of which apparantly are good so far) will come into play.

I know there is a lot of support for having 2 quality backs of the Ricky/ Ronnie mold, but with the Dolphins having so many needs I think that is a luxury they will not be able to afford, not to mention the upgrade in salary Ricky would deserve.

At any rate it should be interesting watching this story line run its course.

Look what happened to LaMont, though. Getting traded to the Raaaaaaidaaaaaahs is exactly what we hope happens to Ricky. I think that is what Ricky is being used for right now, trade bait.
