Active Roster
Round 1: Darius Butler CB(Connecticut) 5'11" 184lbs.
Darius has the instincts and awareness to be an elite cover CB in the NFL. At his ProDay, Darius ran a 4.38/40 and had a an amazing 43 vertical at the combine. Now that's sum hops! He is very fluid in and out of his breaks. He is a very smart player. He does not take unnecessary gambles. His technique is flawless and his footwork is superb. Butler has a real feel for the position. But with all this there are always drawbacks. Always drawbacks. He is not the most physical of players. And one thing that really stands out to me is that in his last 17 games he did not have 1 int. You might think that the defenses were throwing away from him and I would agree. But Charles Woodson, the year he won the Heisman(1997), he was just as feared and he still came up with 5 ints. Although, Darius does have 10 for his career at UCONN. Just a thought.
Round 2: Connor Barwin OLB(Cinncinnati) 6'4" 256lbs.
I would be estatic if Barwin would be here at this pick. He was originally a late 3rd - 4th round grade, but then came the combine and his ProDay. He ran a 4.66/40 at the combine and his stock rose. Then at the UC ProDay he ran a 4.47/40 which had a lot of scouts falling out of thier seats, looking at thier stop watches, and saying that can't be right. On top of this, he is a tireless worker and gives tremendous effort throughout the game. Combine the previous statement with the fact that he is extremely versatile in that he can play OLB, DE(if something catastrophic happened), TE, PR, and cover on STs. That is exactly the kind of versatility that Sparano has preached about ever since he became the HC. There are a couple of reasons that he may fall to this spot. He has only been playing the position for a season is still learning. He needs to get stronger at the POA. He will have to learn more moves as a pass rusher.
Brian Robiskie WR(Ohio State) 6'3" 205lbs.
Brian ran a 4.46 and 4.48/40 at his ProDay. He commented that he hoped this would answer any questions about his speed. I like Robiskie, much more than I liked Ginn coming out of OSU. Brian is fast in both straight line speed and in and out of his cuts. He is a technician on the field running his routes as one would expect when your father is a WR coach in the NFL. He is a very QB friendly, giving the signal caller the best possible target. He knows how to dissect a zone defense. Robiskie has great size and hands. His football I.Q. is off the chart. Many places have said there is no learning curve once he is in the Pros. Now the negatives. Must improve his blocking. Some question his "want to" because he has been given a lot of advantages in life. IDK, just passing along info.
Round 3: Kraig Urbik OG Wisconsin(6'6" 326)
He is exactly what Sparano is looking for: a big physical road grader for the OL. He has the versatility the coach is looking for to play either RT or RG. His footwork has been a concern, but it did improve this past year. He has the ability to trap and pull. He can get to the second defender. Lastly, he is strong as an OX.
Round 4: Jasper Brinkley ILB(South Carolina) 6'2" 252lbs.
Jasper has put any lingering questions about his knee injury to rest. He was impressive at his ProDay, showing fluidity in his postion drills. He stood by most of his numbers at the combine(I would have liked to see if he could have improved his 40 time), but he did run a 4.39 short shuttle and 6.92 3 cone drill(anything less than 7.00 is impressive, even for recievers). Jasper is a big, hard hitting monster against the run. He is a very sure tackler. Basically if he gets his hands on you, you are going down. He plays with aggression and moves very well laterally. He has to watch is weight. Playing at 252lbs. is a good weight for him, but he can not let the pounds go up to around 280 like he did last year in college.
Round 5: Cornelius Lewis OT(TSU) 6'4" 324lbs.
A transfer from Florida St. to Tennessee St. At the practices and during the game at the Texas vs. Nation was the most dominate OL. In one-on-one match-ups, he was unbeatable. He really understands how to use his hands and feet to prevent the defender from threatening the QB. He plays with a tough, nasty and aggressive demeanor. He is very stout at the POA. He could shift inside to G or backup the RT position. He may have played a small school, but he is a big time talent.
Round 6: Don Carey CB(Norfolk State) 5'11" 192lbs.
Per NFLDraftScout -
He is a great man-to-man cover corner. He really stood out at Shrine Week.
Round 7: Dudley Guice WR(Northwestern State) 6'3" 209lbs.
He has fluid hips, outstanding hands and great body control. He is a thinking man on the field, using a variety of moves to separate from the defender. At the Texas vs. Nation game, scouts were taking a second, third and fourth look at this little known WR. Not receiving an invite to the combine, Guice had to perform for onlookers at his ProDay-he did not disappoint:

3-Cone Drill: 6.61
He graduated from Northwestern State with a 3.597 GPA and 2nd in the Draddy(Academic Heisman). Could he be this years Marques Colston?
Gartrell Johnson RB(Colorado State) 5'11" 222lbs.
Good:
Three year starter for the Rams. Had 285 yards rushing vs. Fresno St. in the New Mexico Bowl and was the game's MVP. He had nealy 400 yards combined rushing and receiving in the game. He had 191yds vs. UNLV, 130yds vs. SDSU, 127 vs. NMU, 135 vs. Wyoming in 2008. He's a one cut and go runner and that's the kind of RB the Trifecta is looking for. He's a strong runner between the tackles and has enough wiggle to make the defenders miss. He started his career at Michigan St., but the last 2 seasons at CSU he has 2,433(5.3 ypc), 44 catches for 398yds(9ypr) and 20TDs.
Bad:
Going into the combine he he was regarded as a top RB, but after he ran 4.75/40, his stock has fallen. At his ProDay, he improved his 40 time slightly with 2 runs of 4.68 and 4.67 respectively. That got me thinking there was something not right here. While his 40 time does throw up red flags, I think you have to look more closely at this kids 10 yard split. He ran his first 10yds. in 1.60 secs. Compare that with other runners from last years combine:
Here are some 10/20/40 splits from the 2008 combine:
While he is no Chris Johnson, he does compare favorablly with the other RBs listed. He is one of the RBs that, because of his burst through the hole, is able to just punish the other team after he gets his 12-15 carries. I remember when Emmit Smith was coming out of UF, they had the same concerns about him. Emmitt had vision, toughness and elusiveness to make up for the lack of speed. I am not saying Johnson is going to be the next Smith but he does possess the same traits as Emmitt. The burst is what gets him through the hole, the vision is what helps find the lane and the mental toughness is what helps him punish defenders.
*Oh yeah, I forgot. I didn't include a TE because CK had to many picks:

Per NFLDraftScout -
http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=81358&draftyear=2009&genpos=CBThe Dolphins have shown great interest in several players the past 10 days, with a particular interest in Norfolk State cornerback Don Carey. Carey worked out for 15 NFL teams and Dolphins defensive backs coach and assistant head coach Todd Bowles met individually with Carey a day before his pro day workout in mid-March and then Bowles ran the workout. Carey is 5 feet 11 3/8 inches and 192 pounds and had good times in the short shuttle and three-cone drills but stood on his NFL Scouting Combine 40-yard dash time of 4.54. There continues to be some question about the timing of 40s on the final day of the combine, several athletes have run better 40 times in their individual workouts. Out of high school, Carey had a chance to attend Yale but cost prevented it. He had the second-highest GPA on the Norfolk team, and he was a four-year starter. - R.M. Cox, The Examiner
