After reading about a billion mocks (actual number is 725,345,001 mock drafts read), I've finally decided to jump aboard and offer up my amateurish and uninformed draft picks. My rational behind these picks are a combination of BPA and team needs right now to help us win...or at least kick the mud outta the Pats, Bills and Jets (God I hate the Jets).

NOTE: the one thing I realized while compiling this list...DAMN, we got lots 'o picks! (it's about time)

1 – Laron Landry (S – LSU)
This guy can straight up ball. He's bigger, faster, stronger and he
possesses that fire, the x-factor that you can't train or practice. Looking at our needs, besides OL help, we need to address the secondary, and Laron free's us up to shift Jason Allen around and really strengthen our backfield for years to come.
NOTE: This is under the assumption that Brady Quinn does not fall to #9. I thought about Levi Brown here, and even though I feel Brown is a hell of a player, I don't think he's top 10 material...also Okoye is an amazing prospect, but our DL is tuff with a “uff”.

2a - Joe Staley (OT – Cent. Michigan)
Great size, speed, movement, and he is still very green. I've only seen a little bit of tape on him, but every other piece of supporting research points to a future stud at LT in the NFL for a long time to come. Get him in and let Houck and Cam show him the way, and develop him into our new Richmond Webb (boy do I miss Webb).

2b - Drew Stanton (QB – Michigan St.)
I've been a fan of his for a long time. I know he didn't have a stellar season, but that team “blew dog's balls”, as my grandmother likes to say. He's got ideal size, a good arm, he's smart, and he's a great pocket passer. When he's on, he flashes qualities that remind me of Tom Brady. We need a quarterback to groom, and since I believe we are out of the running for Quinn, Drew Stanton is the next best prospect in this draft.

3 - Jason Hill (WR – Wash St.)
Blazingly fast, good hands needs some work on his route running. I say, plug him in as our KR/PR, maybe 4th WR to fill the hole that Wes left (although the hole in my heart will never go away). I think he would make a dangerous return man with some gametime experience.

4 - Eric Wright (CB – UNLV)
Speedy, athletic, good hands. Still raw, needs to grow up a little and not the ideal height (what's the deal with these short CB's coming out, College coaches need to convert some of these tall receivers who can't catch...who said Hagan). Let Wright get his feet wet on special teams, maybe even try out as a return man. Plays with a lot of emotion, but needs to be coached up.

6 - Scott Chandler (TE – Iowa)
Great speed for his size...and this boy is big (6'7” 270lbs runs a 4.78 40). Good hands. Perfect for picking up short 1st downs and in the red-zone. Needs to work on his blocking, he has the tools, just needs some of that Hudson Houck juju to become a better blocker. Doesn't beat his wife.

7a - Mansfield Wrotto (OG – Ga. Tech) “My Sleeper Pick”
Good size and athleticism, but is super raw. Needs to get the fundamentals down (he was a DT for most of his career). But if he can learn the position, I think he can become an amazing player.

7b - Cameron Stephenson (OG – Rutgers)
Still learning his position, but has a lot of people talking. Won't win any foot races, but he plays with a lot of intensity. Part of the reason Rutgers was one of the teams that allowed the fewest sacks last year...all right I don't give a squirt about about this meathead, I just want to see a “Stephenson” back on our line.

...and we might even get another pick with the Olacko Makee trade. All in all, I like what Cam and Mueller are up to. Breakdown, breakthrough.

A 2nd and a 7th for Wes! Come one, that's pretty sweet.

NOTE: Made an edit, got rid of the 5th round pick I mistakenly put in.

Along with Robinson, I doubt Wright lasts that long either(or Hill from what I hear, and despite my mock)). And I like how you think a franchise tackle isn't worth a top ten pick but a safety is. We'll just have to agree to disagree that Brown isn't worth a 9, since I do like Landry.

If Okoye was a NT believe me we'd be thrilled to have him at 9. Our D isn't all that special at NT, in fact it's a Keith Traylor knee injury and a 7th rounder playing like a 7th rounder away from being ripped to shreds up the middle.

If I'm the Fins I pick a nose tackle or I sign another one soon because if you lose that all important player your cooked.

Brian Robison, I highly doubt lasts that long. He performed well at the combine.

true, but that is a deeeeeep position in the draft: adams, anderson, carriker, moss, moses, woodly, mcdonald, crowder, etc.

they all should go before robinson.

also, to help the cause, i'll start a rumor...how bout robinson was caught throwing gherkin pickles at a short bus filled with hairless orphans. that should get him to us in the 6th.

trust me i do believe a franchise tackle is worth a top ten pick. but i also feel a top ten pick needs to be a special type of player, and brown is damn good, but i just don't see that knock your face in the dirt attitude and aggression that i want my top 10 pick to have. and compared to landry, he's a kitten. we need fire out there. you put landry out there with taylor, thomas, porter, crowder and traylor...we could be talking one of the sickest D's in the last 20 years!

Brown is definitely a fiery leader. If you don't see it, you just haven't watched him enough. He's no kitten compared to Landry.

i hear you, but i also want to see what some of our young guys can do. saban's ego was too big to take a risk on our youth. he wanted immediate results, and that's why our D is so old. i feel that right now, the only place we have depth on our D is the line, so i wanted my mock to concentrate on the positions where we are thin. so let's give the wright's and that 7th rounder (who looked pretty good) a chance. fills the holes this year. replace traylor with next years draft if the youngin's don't cut it.

For the upteenth time guys, the Wrights including Manny are not a good fit at NT. It's just Evans by his Texas State self as far as young NTs go.

I like the Wright pick but he'll have to be chosen with one of our second round picks or our third.

once again, i think brown is a great talent. and you're right, maybe i haven't seen enough of his games, but in the 4 or 5 that i have, i just didn't see that "magic". he's solid, but not a sure thing, and i am sick of our 1st round picks not panning out.

my "kitten" comment was used in comparing him to the type of player that landry is. landry is an animal, and if safety was a more valuable position, i truly feel he'd be a top 5 pick. but for us, we have 2 glaring needs: secondary and OL. so, when i put brown and landry on the scales, landry is a clear winner. not to knock brown, he's a great player. but laron's got star written all over him.

Hill probably isn't leaving the 2nd, and Wright isn't leaving the 3rd. Robison isn't going to last that long. Otherwise I'd take it.

Your mom IS cool! Oh and she rocked my world last night ;) Only teasing :)

yeah, i went back and forth on where i thought hill would go, but WR is another deep position in this draft and with at least 6 receivers who would go before hill i thought it would be safe. but maybe we could switch my stanton and hill picks. i think stanton might still be on the board in the early 3rd.

wright i think may be there. he's got some character issues, and the nfl is reaching critical mass with the bengals, pacman jones, the gunrunner from the bears...they are becoming a little more cautious. so i don't see wright flying up the boards.

I'm not sure if Stanton falls that far.

yeah, maybe. but he's suffering from the "what have you done for me lately" issue. scouts and pundits are really knocking him for last season, and he's getting a lot of heat for not living up to his potential...sort of the opposite of what jay cutler went through last year. they're saying why didn't he do better, when he should have. so i think he's there in the late 2nd early 3rd.
