Mock Draft on msn.com today 2/10

i'd rather have dexter mcCluster in the second than brandon LaFell ...

the third rounder is a nice pick, but i doubt hardy will last until there...

I like Dan Williams and I do think he could be a good NT for us. I like him as the best DT in the draft for the 3-4. I would be very happy with that pick, but I would have a hard time choosing between Dan Williams, Dez, Spiller, and Jason Paul Pierre based on this mock draft.

Yeah if those four are there and Pierre does well in LB drills and individual meetings, that is such a tough decision. Each one of them can change our team for the good, what a nice problem.

  • I like Dan Williams but no way in hell should we be passing on Dez Bryant. I can't take another year of watching Ted Ginn pretend to be a WR1.
  • I can't mock without knowing how free agency went so let's assume we signed some FAs.
FA) Karlos Dansby ILB
FA) Antrel Rolle FS (cut by ARI)

R1.) Dez Bryant WR Oklahoma Sate
R2.) Terrence Cody NT Alabama
R3.) Jerry Hughes OLB TCU

That would be solid. I don't care how bad Cody looks with his shirt off. The guy is perfect for the 3-4 anchor. No RB reached 100 yards rushing against Alabama since Cody arrived there. I think that says just as much about Cody as it does about McClain. For a 2nd round pick, that's a steal!

With no McClain and Bryan Bulaga still on the board, I would hope we tried damn hard to trade down with GB and pick up an extra 2nd before settling with Williams. Not to mention I'd be pretty pissed if we took LaFell over Demaryius Thomas, Rejus Benn, Jerry Hughes, Jason Worilds, or Dexter McCluster.

Jerry Hughes falling to round 3. I really hope you don't actually believe that.

I don't mind the Williams and LaFell choice, but I think there are better options than Hardy.

Cody is the prototypical nose tackle......he's going to be immovable as a 2 down run stopper....

If what you looked like with your shirt off had anything to do with what type of player you are.....the word "bust" would be in referrence to Hall of Fame sculptures instead of "bust" draft picks for many a high selections..

He's a lot more athletic for a man that size than people think....a LOT more athletic...

But there is risk involved...and I've always tried to get the point across from the beginning that his value is not in the 1st round....despite all the hype of him being a top 10 pick that only recently subsided.....you simply cannot buy into all the hype surrounding most of these players....

Dan Williams was always my personal preference in the 1st round for a nose tackle prospect....before the season even began....and Williams has delivered on that potential...

Williams was the key component in holding Mark Ingram to only 99 yards rushing against Tennessee...

Cody and McClain were the key components in holding everyone's favorite Chris Johnson clone to 7 yards rushing Alabama's 2008 matchup with Clemson....in fact...they held the Spiller/James Davis tandem and the Clemson team to a COMBINED ZERO yards rushing in that game...

Spiller is a dynamic playmaker...but if he's forced to run between the tackles against top defenses...he becomes a very average player...which is one of the concerns I've always had with him....

He's a complementary piece...if I've said it once I've said it 1000 times..

If we don't go LB, then I love the Dan Williams choice.

Not sure if using his game against Bama is a fair team to compare him. The 2nd best team in the country last year and the best defense and him on the Tigers who had no talent other then him or Davis. Come on.

Who has done anything against Bama running? Nobody because they are elite at every position and I know Saban had one goal in that game and it was to stop Spiller/Davis.

Let me give you a comparison to show you how silly taking a one game snapshot of his career against an amazing Defense. Barry Sanders, with a average team in the Lions was held to 20 yards against the Bucs in 1997. 20 yards!!! Did I mention that it was the year he ran for 2053 yards. Was Barry Average??

I think you missed the point.. I'm not taking ONE GAME to show how average Spiller is...I'm using it to show that running between the tackles against top defenses isn't his game...

Spillers game is getting out in space....he's not going to be as effective between the tackles as a lot of people think..

Spiller has only had 20+ carries 5 times in his career.....in fact...his career high of 26 finally came this year.....

Spiller averages about 10 carries per game for his 4 years at Clemson..

For all the comparisons to Chris Johnson....Johnson had proven to be much more effective between the tackles in college....he had 20+ carries 13 times at ECU...

Scatbacks like Spiller, Demps, Rainey, McCluster, etc... don't get it done against defenses like Bama.....you have to have a between the tackles runner with exceptional vision, balance, some power,...etc..

A back like Mark Ingram or Ryan Williams would have the most success against Alabama.....best thing about that is they only have to find that out in practice...

It's no coincidence that backs like Ryan Williams, Charles Scott, and Anthony Dixon have had the most success against Bama's defense..

there's nothing wrong imo with taking dan williams at #12...i don't see that as "settling" at all

there's others i'd prefer over him but i'd be pretty happy with him as the pick as well...

I hate Williams at 12...Lafell in the 2nd rd is a great pick and as far as the Hardy pick, no thanks....I love to see the phins trade back if both Graham and McClain r gone...if not draft Bryant at 12 and then take the best LB available in the 2nd rd....
