Hey all,

Now that Im living overseas, I cant follow (watch on TV) college football as i have in the past. I have to rely solely on the internet for info, which isnt really the same. Other than the top 30-40 players, Id be hard pressed to name others. Regardless, this is how I would like to see our 09 draft unfold. It also depends a lot on whether we resign Carey and/or Crowder. Saying that we do resign them, I see our more needs as the following: CB (starter) , S (starter), OLB (starter in a years time), WR (starter), OT (first string backup..we have nobody here!), DT (starter in a year or two, still need to see what solai can do), ILB (depth needed here, possibly starter). So basically we need a ton!!!! I dont think we need to focus on DE, G, C, QB, RB, TE until round 7, if at all, unless of course a gem falls in our lap.

1-S (Mays or William Moore, though I prefer Moore)
2-WR (draft not as deep at WR)
3-CB (draft is deeper at corner)
4-OLB
5-OT (pretty deep draft for OTs too)
7-BPA at DT/ILB/OT
7-BPA at DT/ILB/OT
7-BPA at DT/ILB/OT

Free Angency: would love to get either Asomugha, CB Raiders or Terell Suggs, OLB as our big time signee. If so, then our strategy at the top of the board would change accordingly, with ILB and OT moving up.

Of course, trading down would be great, as like last year, we have so many needs to fill.

Thoughts?

For now...the only thing I would disagree with you on is that the 2009 draft is deeper at corner than wide receiver.....I'd say just the opposite should the top underclassman declare...

Honestly I dont want to spend a first rounder on a S. I think you can find good quality ones later in the draft. I really think we need to go CB in the first because its a lot harder to find them later in the draft because teams pick them so early. I also think we need to address our LB core J.Porter isnt getting any younger and with out a stud rusher we could be in some serious trouble

i just think that right now we can get by with our OLB. roth is developing nicely (although he still cant cover) and joey porter seems to have found new life and still prob has another good year left. Our pass rush has been decent to good this year. What I dont think we can afford is have a S-by-committee opposite yeremiah bell. We have NOONE and we need someone to step in as a starter from day 1, which means, iwe should pick one in the first 3 rounds. since our DBs suck, we really need the S to help out deep, and were getting killed this year by big WRs and deep balls.

whoa...how could i have forgotten that!!!!! well, scratch my post then. back to the drawinig boards. thanks bro!

REVISED:

1 S (we have noone outside Y.Bell. CBs are starting to play well together, sign a top CB in FA)
2 DT (looks what happened when Fergy was hurt and hs got maybe another year in him, cant rely on Solai)
2 WR (like what our guys have done last couple weeks....camarillo, ginn, bess are keepers. excited about brandon, but still need a big-play guy
3 ILB (crowder may very well be gone)
4 OLB (porter has another year in him, roth too inconsistent)
5 OT depth
7 BPA
7 BPA
7 BPA
