1)
BPA (I don't care who it is, what position they play, just take the best college player available at pick 12, this could mean CJ Spiller, Dez Bryant, Rolando McClain, Earl Thomas, etc.)
2) Brandon Graham OLB (Would fit in nicely opposite a re-signed Jason Taylor, plays the run well, kid is gonna be a baller)
3) Lindsay Witten OLB (Needs to get stronger and refine some techniques but the dude is a beast and would play behind Jason Taylor, with the Graham pick, your looking at the future OLB for this team, Nolan is gonna have a great time using these players in his schemes)
4) Lamarr Houston NT (Yes he can play NT, no he's not too small, its not so much about size rather than ability with Houston)

I have to be honest, I wouldn't like that draft very much. Morgan is a reach at #12 in my opinion. I'm not real high on Benn, who I think has a high bust factor. I do like Micah Johnson a lot and think he might end up going in round 2.

You did a good job addressing the needs, but you made a GRAVE ERROR with drafting Derrick Morgan. He is not a 3-4 OLB, he can ONLY play in a 4-3 scheme. In a 3-4 scheme, LBs have to dropback in pass coverage and Morgan cannot do that even if his life depended on it. You would be better off drafting Jerry Hughes, Von Miller, Sergio Kindle, or Eric Norwood.

It's not so much that it has to be Morgan, but I think its going to be one of the OLB's at that point.

What does Morgan weigh?

Not sure about Morgan being able to play standing up, but if Parcells and Co. draft him to do it I'm sure he can do it.

Ck says he can, so he can.

Ha ha...sorry buddy, that's not how I roll. (or...are you being sarcastic because I can't tell)

anyway...

From what I've seen from him, he can't cover passes. He's a liability in that area. I'm sure he will be working hard on it till the combine, so only time will tell.

I trust Bill and Co. too. I believe he can't do it, but if they believe he can, then just may be (but I'd remain skeptical until I can see it myself). Aside from Jerry Hughes, I think there are more polished LBs out there that can be drafted than spend a first round pick trying to convert a not-so agile DE (Morgan) to play the 3-4 OLB position.

That makes sense. From my point of view I trade down if Rolando McClain, Dez Bryant or CJ Spiller aren't there at 12. Then possibly pick up another #2 and draft someone like Brandon Graham (definitely a strong side linebacker) or Jerry Hughes (looks like a weak side backer) or Golden Tate and look defense in round 2.

i've heard 6 ft 4 270...and saying he can't play solb imo is very premature

he's gonna be asked to do lb drills at the combine i guarantee it

fair enough. but CK also brought Merling up at olb last year, and Ill never see that. I know this regime likes bigger guys on the edge, but the guy better be able to get to the qb. otherwise its another long year defensively. on a side not, isnt Woodley around 6'3 270ish?

merlings butt gets bigger every time i see him...like every week it seems

derrick morgan can get to the qb...no doubts there

i personally right now at least like morgan more as a 4-3 end but i agree with others that say if morgan looks solid in lb drills at the combine and he's there when we pick that is the kind of guy parcells loves...

productive player with plus size...

but hey maybe tomorrow he'll take some stand up snaps...i'm gonna watch that game closely for a number of nfl talents...on both teams

and b/t you and i zach slimm loves morgan as a potential 3-4 solb fit

i like sergio kindle a lot at solb

This mock assumes that Miami addresses the Safety and NT position in FA.

1) Derrick Morgan OLB (I think the big names will be off the board, to me that means we look at the OLB spot with someone like Morgan, Hughes or Kindle for example. I cannot see this regime spending a 1st round pick on a WR, they would have to really fall in love with Dez Bryant and I don't see that happening. If McClain fell to this spot it would be McClain here.)
2) Rejus Benn WR (I think you look at his ability and how he could fit in for us and I think its a great pick, regardless Dolphins have to address WR in FA and/or draft. Personally, my favorite is Golden Tate, I think he's got the attitude to be a #1 WR but I think he'll be gone at this point. Fact is that in round 2 there should still be some decent WR's around our pick)
3) Micah Johnson ILB (I love this kids swaggar, he can actually cover unlike Akin or Crowder. Would be a huge upgrade for us at a position we desperatly need to upgrade)
4) Crezdon Butler CB (Has great speed, could help on ST, isn't afraid to mix it up and help with the run, can be physical, good not great production. Would fit in well as #4 CB)
Derrick Morgan is a DE,and a DE only.He cant play in space, and hes had his hand in the dirt his whole career.Too much of a gamble witht he 12th pick the draft,to suggest he can play a position he doesnt play on the regular.

Brandon Graham,OLB out of Michigan(6'2",263) is head and shoulders a better OLB prospect.
