So this is without doing the Suh restructure? I assume yes since Vernon is gone...

I would try to restructure Cameron or go for another TE cheaper option as you outlined. I think your low on your figures for Miller and Shelby to resign.

I may or may not keep Grimes as much as I want him gone in the worst way depending on who we can possibly sign in FA etc.

Would be on board with the first round picks depending what happens on the Dline in FA.

That's alotta "if's" on the FA front ... But I'll admit, your plan has my attention.

I don't see any value at the CB position in the first two rounds. I would wait until day three to draft that position.

Myles Jack and Jelani Jenkins project at the same position, although I wouldn't mind giving Jelani a shot on the other side.

We are in no position to outright cut Jordan Cameron. 6'5" 255 and runs a 4.53. These guys are hard to find. He wasn't the reason for his low production. Tannehill liked throwing to Jarvis Landry. When you have a receiver breaking the club record for receptions it is foolhardy to think the other receivers should have outstanding stats as well.

Good grief, it makes no sense to cut Dion Jordan. There is very good reason no team ever does this kind of thing. If he is suspended he doesn't get paid and he doesn't count in the top 51 that constitute the cap. If he is reinstated he has no trade value so you give him a shot at redemption. When will this stop. Please God, make it stop.

I really don't think the back injury thing is going to cause Spencer Drango to slide like some are thinking. He had a great year last year. I think we have to use our 2nd to get him. Might be able to trade down a few spots and still get him but I will be surprised, if he stays healthy through the draft process, if he makes it out of the 2nd round.

Kaufusi is old, but an intriguing prospect. Can't begin to guess right now where he goes. I like the pick.

Stopped reading after sentence one. :idk:

I like it a lot.

-I'd prefer Osemele to Brooks/Sweezy (more $ probably than those 2 but idk)
-I'd restructure Cameron and forget about Dwayne Allen (sims fits that role pretty well imo)
-I think Leon hall is a great fit, Carroll too, but I'd like to get someone with youth/upside over hall, maybe Jenkins? But depends on the price.

-Draft... could go many ways, so I'm not sure here, but I know I like how hoops is making Eli Apple sound. Maybe our first two rounds go to Ohio State players? Maybe even a trade down is possible, risky, but who knows. After LB/CB, I think we'd be in a good position for bpa, within some limits though... Pass rusher, ol, db depth

I don't agree with all of it but like the effort and think it's realistic for the most part. I agree with all the cuts, especially that dog **** Dion Jordan, except for Jordan Cameron. Need to do what we can to restructure him. He could be dynamite in this offense and after the awful production last year I'm pretty sure we could find some middle ground. Restructure for 3/15-18. Restructuring Wake is an easy decision for me. Need these voices in the room. I'm on record for not wanting Shelby back because I think he's a pretty marginal locker room piece. Like the player, don't like the person. Would rather go cheap and replace him with George Selvie. I also think with this approach our pass rush would be weak. I have no idea who you have lined up across from Wake...our rotation with this approach would be Wake, Shelby, Fede and Kaufusi...definitely my least favorite part about your offseason approach. Additionally Shelby has been a LDE basically his entire career, same as Wake. On early downs where we have to keep Wake off the field, we'd basically be relying on Shelby and a 3rd round rookie. On passing downs Wake and Shelby/Kaufusi seems like a major leap of faith. Definitely feel like if we let Vernon go we have to do more to replace his impact.

To me your Lamar Miller figure is slightly high, but that dollar amount would ensure he doesn't reach the market anyway so can't fault you and I've been wrong more than enough times. I think your Leon Hall figure is a little too low. I'd say that deal you have is his floor and Tramon Williams' 3/21 deal is his ceiling. Ultimately I think he lands somewhere in the middle. I also have concerns that he was strictly a slot guy last year and the year prior he wasn't overly effective on the outside and he's got 2 torn achilles to his name. I'd have guys I'd prefer to him, but if the price is right we could do much worse. If him and Pacman are getting the same deal, I'm going Pacman. I think we could do better than Nolan Carroll at that pay. If you can get Patrick Robinson for that much I'd be more inclined. Basically I'd be happier with a cornerback tandem of Patrick Robinson and Pacman than what you have mentioned. Not that it's a bad pairing. Ideally for me a tandem of Trumaine Johnson and Pacman for a little more money is more up my alley.

I'm a fan of Brandon Brooks. He's my plan b. I think you've got the terms right. But Sweezy stinks, I don't really get your interest in him. I'd be much more inclined to shell out for Osemele if we can sell him on joining us. Financially having KO as opposed to Brooks and Sweezy would be a minimal difference, but production wise I think the difference would be significant. Additionally with this approach your gameday actives are Albert, Turner, Pouncey, Brooks, James, Drango (swing-tackle), Douglas, since you need a guy to snap on the gameday roster. So Sweezy is basically inactive every week.

Thornton can definitely stuff the run. He is a 3-4 convert tho. I'd rather Knighton for a similar hit on a shorter-term, but Thornton is an interesting option. Zach Brown is also interesting. There's some upside there but another 3-4 convert. He's interesting at the very least, and a guy I'd consider in a bunch of uninspiring MLBs available. Still don't really know what to think about Bruton, but we're linked to him so it is realistic anyway. I really think we need more of a seam-stretcher than Allen. He's mostly been the blocking guy and has had trouble staying healthy. I'd much rather keep Cameron.

Also not overly enthused about letting Matthews get away. He's a priority for me, and I really wouldn't like us handing Stills the other WR spot without competition.

A realistic approach tho, but I can't say I'd be thrilled with it. Especially at DE and TE.

Would the $11 million plus in dead money from releasing those players and
the $5.3 million of dead money on the books for 2016 affect the cap $ available

Yup. Dead money is basically what it's called, dead money on the cap. So if player X has a $10M cap hit with $3M in dead money, the cap savings are $7M because the $3M in dead money is what's left over on the cap.

I like the Nolan Carroll call, should never have let him go in the first place - certainly not when he signed a cheap contract

No chance I'd cut Cameron and then sign Dwayne Allen. The idea is to score points. You won't do that with that reduction in talent.

Agreed. Also, we gotta keep Grimes. Sure he isnt a clear cut number one anymore, but as a #2 ill take him.

I disagree with Shelby over Vernon. Also cutting Copleys saves about 7 million with no dead money

Miami has a horrible culture of drafting guys and then replacing them with high priced UFA after their rookie deal. Get drafted by the Phins pretty much assures that you will be playing in another city in 4 yrs.

It's a nice draft. Would love to have Jack and Fuller 1-2.

I would keep Cameron, though. I think he'll do really well with Gase here and cutting him only opens up a huge hole at tight end that may be hard to fill in this draft.

I'd love to know what kind of physical condition Dion Jordan is in. If he reported to camp ripped I'd give him a shot. By ripped I don't mean drunk. If he is in horrible condition, which is where my money is, I'd cut him on the spot.
