I have never done a mock draft before, but I figured I spent so much time looking at prospects I may as well share my ideas. This way I can look back later and see how far off I was and how all the players I though we SHOULD have picked are ballin somewhere else. Anyways.

1st. Davante Parker WR Lou.- this is a popular pick amongst the fin fan base and for good reason. We desperately need a guy that can go up and win jump balls both deep and in the RZ.

2nd. Paul Dawson LB TCU- Our LB core has one known commodity for next season. Jelani Jenkins. I really like this Dawson guy. He's extremely active and is all over the field making plays. He could stand to add some weight but that's not too big of a deal. I just really like his instincts and reaction speed.

3rd. Devin Smith WR Ohio State- I am a a Buckeye fan so I am biased but I know talent when I see it and this guy makes plays. Wallace's days are numbered. The team won't accept him back and the coaches all know it (ok maybe not ALL of them). Devin Smith is what we hoped Wallace could be when we brought him in. He's taller, just as fast, is a long jump champion, and has hands that put Mikes to shame. Plus he can adjust better to the ball than Wallace.

4th. Ladarius Gunter CB the U- He's tall and moves well, if trained up properly could be a great CB opposite Grimes. I was pretty tempted to go with David Cobb here but I think cb is a bigger need right now. Cobb would be a great goalline back for us though. We need someone like that as well.

5th. Laken Tomlinson OG Duke- He's big, hes very athletic, but he's seen as untested and will likely drop. He may not drop this far though.

6th. Adrian Amos Safety PSU- He's athletic, and underrated. Could be good player in a year or two.

7th. Kenny Williams RB Texas Tech- He was their leading rusher, but he was so punishing they put him in at LB! Sold! But he's only 5'9" so he should be a RB for sure. He can at least be competition for the 3rd back spot. He's physical enough to fit what we need.

Tell me what you think!

I think you've done a terrific job there. I have a sneaking suspicion that Parker will be a little underwhelming/slow to develop in the pros - a la Hunter. But you could still convince me he's the best pick at 14. I'd be very tempted by DGB, warts and all, but Parker would be plan B. Huge fan of both Dawson and Smith, so you had me at hello there. We do need at least one DB in this draft and in this range I'd be going for Eric Rowe of Utah if he lasts this long. Donald Celiscar later in the draft if not. I might choose slightly different players for your last three picks, but I couldn't argue massively with your choices either. I'm very high on Josh Robinson as a complement to Lamar Miller, but there are a number of physical backs in this draft. Williams isn't a short yardage or goalline merchant though, which is really what we need.

If that's how it pans out, fans should have little complaint assuming we did OK in FA.

I could live with that mock if our draft went like that.

Just out of curiosity what makes you compare Parker to hunter?

Hunter was incredibly raw, had very little football experience, and quite frankly was pretty much a one trick pony. I'm not really seeing the comparison.

As For IMO Devin Smith is a 2nd rnd pick for sure, especially in this draft.

Yeah he's creeping up towards the second and even some say first but I'm betting he falls a little bit. I guess it is possible that devin Smith and paul dawson could awotxh draft positions in my mock.

I would love the draft and love the thought process, but I think Smith may sneak into round one and at worst round two. I also think Tomlinson is a round guy and at worst round 4. BTW, he's my favorite player in the draft, would love to see Miami get him.

Laken Tomlinson is really good. I'm on the fence on whether he has enough movement skills to play in a ZBS but man that guy is good at the POA. I did watch him pull to his left and completely pancake a linebacker on a video I saw...just destroyed the guy.

He's also not your average intelligence as he is going to med school at some point.

Championship teams are built through tough dominant defense, controlling the LOS and solid QB play.
WRs and RBs are icing on the cake. You dont need a superstar WR, you need a solid corps of WRs. You don't need a superstar RB, you need a productive tandem of RBs.
The phins were an embarrassment the last 6 games due to weak defensive play. 1st 2 picks need to be DT and ILB, even if it means trading down a few spots.
WR can be addressed in 3rd round. CB and OG have to be addressed in FA.

i don't think there is any way smith falls below mid 2ne

14. Trade down (if White or Parker or Shelton are all gone)
20. Malcom Brown
47. Paul Dawson
53. Kevin Johnson
78. Tyler Lockett
4. John Miller
5. Durrell Eskridge
6. Josh Robinson
7. Devante Davis

I'd rather trade up than trade down tbh, and I'm always a trade down kind of guy. Not in this draft though, this draft is ugly.
