Momentum building to take WR Harvin?

We can assure you that the Miami Dolphins' Tony Sparano, Jeff Ireland and Bill Parcells are already focusing on the 2009 NFL draft. If you listen to the rumors, there seems to be momentum building for the Dolphins to take Florida speedster Percy Harvin with the 25th pick.

This Sweeney guy is not bad, Guzman has been good, too of late. But in my estimation this is yet another ham fisted comparison to Ted Ginn. They're both 5-11, fast and black. Gee, I guess that makes them twins. Get real.
 
So whar rumors are these besides made up bs from media darlings that they themselves would like to see Harvin in a Fins uniform. The only WR I see us taking is the one that drops to our 2b. pick and that might even be a stretch.
 
I see the Dolphins using the first 3 picks on the defensive side of the ball. namely DE/LB, CB, and maybe another CB or Safety. Then once those holes have been filled then they look at WR and provide depth in the Oline and Dline.

I don't know. There are so many needs that I just hope that they go BPA within reason. MY two top needs were C and WR- now we have Grove, and we need a #1- Nicks fits the bill. But yeah, there are many other defensive needs for sure. At least we got a Center, so I feel a little better all ready. For backup OL I kind of like Cadogan from PSU and Reynolds from UNC.
 
there's two things the dolphins should like about harvin:

1- he's physically very gifted (big, fast, strong and very swift)

2- he has the ability to create separation between him and defenders. This staff seems to focus on this aspect when grading WRs. You hear it more often than anywhere, either pennington, henning, or sparano, they all preach how WRs need to create separation in any distinctive way (speed, agility, size, etc)
Percy harvin, has that ability.

i'm not hoping to see harvin in a dolphins uni, but you can't help but wonder how they view the guy, especially since he responds to all the credentials we are looking for not only as a WR but as a pure football player (toughness, ahtleticism, the "make up" , coming from a good program, etc )

I agree with you, I'd love for us to take a WR and watching Nicks play makes me think he could be the best of the bunch. I really like Robiskie aswell but I'm trying to look at it from BP's perspective in which he builds the trenches, then the LB's to complete the front seven and CB's, WR's, TE's and RB's can be had later on.
 
Harvin would be interesting. I could see him getting involved in the Wildcat in all kinds of ways.
 
It wouldn't be my pick, but I could see it happening, his versatility would be an asset with someone like dan henning
 
Harvin has a rediculas first step and can get to top speed pretty quickly... But can't maintain that speed very long. I've seen him get caught on numberous occasions... With that said, he isn't very polished as a WR and lined up in the back field alot in Florida... Miami doesn't need this guy, Teddy Ginn is faster than Harvin, so the speed aspect isn't really there. I say draft a WR later in the 3rd or 4th round.

We'll see what Harvin runs on his pro day. I'm thinking 4.3-4.35. I'm shocked to hear someone say that the speed aspect isn't there with Harvin- the dude is a flat out burner. And extremely quick to boot.
