We are very close to something really special happening. The right man has been hired as HC, a great staff has been put together, and the owner is willing to spend. Conversely, the Jets are in upheaval and the Pats got pasted in the SB leaving them trying to answer alot of questions. A few key FA signings and a noteworthy draft will put us in prime position to take the AFC east. Hang on!

I agree. I'm not sure about taking the East just yet, but I think things are certainly looking up for us

If...if...if the Dolphins can bring in a quality starting QB or somehow we develop one, then we can say the mo' has changed. Either way, I expect Philbin to have us competing year in and year out. This man really seems to have a high football IQ and I'm glad we chose him over all the other names available, especially Fisher.

i can absolutely say with complete certainty, that joe philbin will not be a nick satan.

Presently, since we're talking about the division, IMO, relatively speaking, we have its second best QB. If and/or when we upgrade further, it can only get better. So I agree that we're already in good shape with an even brighter light at the end of a short tunnel.

Belichick has more cap space than us. They have two more 1st rounders.
I think we should be more of a team that can beat the Pats on any given sunday provided that our offense becomes top ten and scores 25 points a game. In order to beat the pats, we need to be able to score with a little more authority with touchdowns instead of FG's.

That said, people talk about Manning being 36, well, so is Brady. Wes Welker star fading a little? we will see how much BB pays up his star players aside from brady.

As far as the jets and bills, i have confidence that we will beat them. Jets are the same old "make a splash" in free agency and the draft all so they can be talked about and we now see how that is working out for them as they enter the payton sweepstakes....laughable. Marshall is actually ruling over revis island.

Please elaborate..

let me count the ways....

1) joe actually wants the job and is willing to build a team through a philosphy of collaboration rather than authoritative dictatorship
2) joe actually was a coach for a top notch NFL franchise
3) Philbin isnt making 7 million so as to give him a cushion to simply walk away without any guilt. He actually is forced to do a good job.
4) Philbin knows how important the qb position is to the success of a team. (gus frerrote)
i could come up with more but these are some of the best reasons.

Saban is a college coach because it allows him to be more of a dictator who dicsiplines young men. In the NFL, you need knowledge of what a successful team is about and how to adjust.

oh wait, i just came up with another one.......joe philbin isnt friends with bill belichick.

I'm gonna hold off judgement on the new coaching staff until they actually coach a game or two.. Call me crazy.

I still wish Ireland was gone though.

Reality Check.... its the offseason. This is where optimism runs wild no matter what coach you have or what your roster looks like. I sense a change.. thats for sure, hopefully thats a good thing. But we have plenty of offseason yet... trades, cuts, draft, free agency... plenty of time for things to go up or down.... but regardless... it is the season of optimism lol
