I was thinking that with the additions of Shelton, Hill, Goodman, Hodge, and Culpepper it would be difficult to still be able to afford Arrington/Peterson AND Allen! I know we have restructured and released players but it still seems like we have spent close to the limit and these LBs will not come cheap!! I would love to see this but can we reasonably expect these two to be acquired especially with the rumors of Sam Adams and Peele?!? Or would it make more sense that we will add either the LB or CB and then go the other way in the first round of the draft?

Don't get me wrong I would love to see us picking up both free agents but it just seems that we are reaching the end of the money rope here!

Thoughts? :cooldude:

I would love for Clumpy to give us an official update on our Cap numbers as well.

how would Clumpy know exactly? Last time he said that we would save 1.5 million by releasing Frerotte and we actually saved close to 4 million. Im not trying to be mean to him but how is he better than what a major website would tell us?

I have been wondering about this myself. They have been surprisingly active thus far on what seems to be a limited budget. By my count (which isn't saying much) they currently have about $3.5MM of available cap space. A good portion of that will need to be reserved for draft picks and in season activity. Booker's contract appears to be a good candidate for a restructuring which may provide a little more room.

It seems apparent to me that they are keeping their options open though, they have yet to announce a restructuring of Taylor's contract ($11MM cap number) nor have they announced they have taken Thomas up on his offer to restructure his contract. Clearly, they would prefer to do something about JT's cap number this season.

It would not surprise me at all if they decided to trade one or two of our marquee players for draft picks and cap relief, with Taylor, Thomas, James, Mare, and McMichael as potential candidates.

While I am on the subject of trades, I still think there is the possibility that (assuming Ricky is exonerated) we trade him to Denver for one of their first round picks. What makes him especially appealing to Denver is that he has a minimum contract and they are cap tight.

We will not be trading marquee players for cap relief. Jason Cole has said it numerous times- we can make all the cap room we want if we need to. JT and Zach restructuring will be huge cap savings should we decide to.

What are you talking about....Clumpy's last update has Gus listed as a savings of 4.3M if released, exactly what it was.....ESPN had it wrong at only 1M number.

He knows, because he enjoys following this stuff. Clump has done an outstanding job, and others here with him that stay in the loop. Take alook at the Salary Cap Thread and you will see all the correct numbers to the T.

I trust our website here at FinHeaven and the Salary Cap Forum over other websites.

oh my bad... Someone posted that it was 1.5 million savings. I thought it was Clumpy. Looks like he is better than ESPN afterall.

Guys, don't forget that Clumpy does the updating as a favor. He is not a Dolphins fan, he is simply an asset to the board and his contributions are key. I am sure he will have something up for us soon. It is difficult for him to put up accurate numbers when official contract numbers are not released.

We have been spending money lately, But we are still way under IMO cause name someone we have signed that was gunna cost alot? LJ probably cost some and Daunte helped us out with his contract. IMO we are in really good shape. I think we won't sign too many more huge guys.

I don't think I would trade him for anything less. I would rather keep him.

Just curious, would you trade Ricky for a second round pick?

And we all know that Cole has never been wrong before...
