If it is true that the failures of the Dolphins in the past few years can be pin pointed to Sparano as so many fans have insisted, and if it's true that Joe Philbin is the genius that he is, why not give Henne and Moore one more year while continuing to build the team through the draft and free agency? Not trying to stir the pot here, just trying to understand your logic. Henne has shown flashes of brilliance and Moore was just money down the stretch - why are we going after an uncoachable 36-year-old quarterback who is his "own system?" Hell, I am even down with signing Flynn - but crying over Manning is like crying after finding out your high school sweetheart is married 14 years since you last saw her - even though she's 50 pounds heavier and has 6 kids.

Even if Miami does sign Manning, they are still in a very strong division that would give them serious competition. This win-now mentality is silly. Besides, you didn't answer my question: whose fault was it - Sparano and the front office or Henne's? I am not a Henne fan, but all this talk about how horrible he's going to be is just silly, especially when you're touting Philbin and blaming everything on Sparano.
Still haven't told me why Manning is so important. Not a future QB, and can't win now with the supporting cast. So why sign him? Hell, sign Flynn, draft Tannehill, do something - but getting all emotional and silly over the fact that a 36-year-old QB doesn't want to sign with your franchise? That's just silly. I wouldn't have wanted the 37-year-old Marino, and I don't want Manning now.

I like Chad, but you can't blame Sparano for some of his shortcomings. Some of the blame has to be attached to Henne, he is the one throwing the ball. There are times when he looks like the real deal, but then he spoils it during a few horrible plays. I think he will have a solid career in the league as a backup or even a starter.
His main problem is consistency, and a fanbase starved of success as long as this one just isn't gonna accept waiting around hoping he'll come good. He is into his fourth year now so you can't say he is still learning the ropes. There are better QBs to be had for Miami even if it isn't Peyton, hell Matt Moore is a better option for us. Maybe Chad will go on to have an extremely successful career, but it won't be here.
The reason we are going after an "uncoachable 36-year-old quarterback who is his own system" is because he is one of the best to ever play the game at his position, and even if he's 80% at his best he is a significant upgrade over anything we've had since Marino and makes us an instant SB contender. Give me 2-3 years of competing with Manning over another year of sucking with Henne.

I hate to commit blasphemy but manning > marino. Its not just his qb play that makes him so good. Its his on field, in the clutch, football intelligence. He dissects the best of defenses and turns nobodies into super heroes. Even if we added no more offensive talent manning ignites this offense and makes fasano > gronk. Bess > welker. He makes every player on offense BETTER.

Not sure "uncoachable" is the best word to describe Peyton Manning. Yes Manning ran "his" offense in Indy, but I don't think it is safe to assume he is going to demand to run "his" offense wherever he goes.
What leads you to believe Manning can't win with the supporting cast? Do you honestly believe we start 0-7 if we had Manning this past season?

Even if he were better than Marino, which is arguable, he is not the solution to a franchise that needs long-term changes. If you people are talking about how Chad Pennington was never going to take the franchise anywhere, then why focus on Manning as the savior? At least with Pennington, you knew what you were getting - with Manning, you just don't know. And I don't care how intelligent you are as a quarterback, what matters is whether you can carry the team for the next decade, and Manning cannot.
It goes back to the Suck-for-Luck deal earlier this year - do you want to win a few games now or build a dynasty. If you want to win now, Manning is your guy, but you're not guaranteed a championship. Take him.

And I don't disagree he is a short term, 3-5 year, fix. I think your missing the upside of not only having Manning turn us into contenders for those 3-5 yrs, but he will also mentor and groom any young QB we draft etc.
