• The Dolphins believe more carries will not be a problem for Ronnie Brown, who has vowed to be in better shape than last July, when he held out. One good sign: He averaged 4.3 yards in three games when he ran at least 20 times, very close to his 4.4 in the other games. . . . The Dolphins privately believe rookie Jason Allen can seize the starting free safety job.

Sophomore seasons can sometimes be a problem for players but I think Ronnie is ready to have a breakout year .

BTW Ronnie was spotted sitting with Pep during the recent Heat game and from other accounts the offensive players have been spending a lot of time together on and off the field.Thats a very good sign.

Hopefully Harrington will manage to bond with them too.

Interesting that Jason Allen is already being pencilled in for the starting FS spot...at least by the players....another good sign.

great news all around i really cant wait till the season starts now theres really nothing that probably gonna go on for awhile now so i just hope a healthy offseason for every1

I would expect Ronnie to say that. If he didn't I would've been disappointed. If he can continue to average about 4.3 per carry then I'm looking for a 1300+ yard season out of him.

If I'm drafting fantasy football, I'm drafting Ronnie Brown relatively high. Let's just say that ;)

that's good stuff.

i know a lot of us believe that his holdout last year kind of impeded his progression early in the season and i'm excited to see how he comes out the gate with a full camp and off-season of conditioning under his belt (especially considering how strong he came on last year as the season progressed).

i know his durability is a concern, but hopefully with the emergence of chambers and acquisition of culpepper the wanny days of running our backs into the ground are behind us...

i'm really excited to see jason allen on the field. having a safety w/ range, esp if our d-line can generate the pressure they did last year...i think he could have the opportunity to make a lot of plays...

Every year I have huge expectations for my Dolphins.

I cannot remember being this amped for the performance of a single player. I guess I was just as psyched when we got Ricky in 2003. 1,850 yards was pretty damn good!

Run Ronnie Run!!!

Not backing down from my prediction of a few months back when the news about Ricky's violation came out.

Ronnie Brown is going to the Pro Bowl in 2006.

If Ronnie merits a Pro-Bowl season (I agree with DD28), that means the safeties gotta creep up a little bit...

CHRIS CHAMBERS DEEP---TOUCHDOWN!!!!

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Run Ronnie Run!!!

Except USUALLY every year we have high expectations and with the exception of Ricky in 2002, they've failed us. I remember every year I think Randy McMichael is going to take his place as one of the top most productive TEs and he keeps not doing it. Every year I think that about Chambers and he doesn't do it.

If you had Ricky in 2002 you were doin just fine.

But I think Ronnie in 2006 is going to be similar. He's got the pieces in place. His backup RB is crap, no offense to Sammy Morris or the Sammy Morris fans out there. His offensive coordinator has a big reputation for running the ball a LOT...kind of like Norv Turner back in 2002 & 2003. This is a 1500 yard back playing in a 1600 yard offense with an 1800 yard coordinator, IMO. Recipe for a pretty good fantasy season. Touchdowns should be good too, because of Ronnie's size and pure athleticism he's actually a pretty good goal line back. There's the danger that Sammy Morris takes goal line specialist duties, but I just don't think that will prove effective enough to keep that going...and with Daunte's knee being iffy, I think they will go heavy on the run in the goal line areas as opposed to the pass where QB movement is a big key to getting things done.

CK, don't forget about what happens when C-Pep and Chambers get clicking on the deep ball. That can only help Ronnie.

Ronnie is a stud and will prove it to the NFL this year.

Throw in the fact that Ronnie will probably get you about 400-500 receiving yards and maybe 2-4 receiving TDs....I would definitely take him as my #1 rb this fantasy football year.

When I evaluate Ronnie I see a 1500 yard back. He doesn't have the cutesies to be a Barry Sanders type but he's got the dominating tangibles to be a 1500 yard power back. His vision and creativity is not bad at all, but it could be better.

When I look at Linehan's playbook I see a 1600 yard rushing offense. That's what Ronnie and Ricky combined for in 2005...about 1650 yards. Moe Williams, Onterrio Smith, and Mike Bennett combined for 1800 yards in 2003 (and that's excluding Daunte's 400+ yards rushing). The RBs only got bout 1400 yards in 2004 but that was with Daunte having one of the best single seasons for a QB in the history of football.

When I look at our OC, I see much of the same...a 1600 yard type coordinator. In 2001, under Mularkey, Bettis, Fuamatu-Ma'afala, and Zereoue combined for 2000 yards (excluding Kordell's 550 yards rushing). In 2002 they went with more of a passing attack but still the three combined for 1500 yards. In 2003 it was about 1300 yards. In Buffalo, he never really got the OL the way he needed it...but still had his guys combining for 1600 yards in 2004, and and 1400 in 2005.

I don't think either Mularkey's offense or Linehan's playbook has seen a runner as talented as Ronnie yet. Now I know that's sacrilege to Jerome Bettis but the Bus was not really the Bus in 2001, or ANY of the subsequent years. He's been good but not great. Ronnie Brown is definitely more talented than Willis McGahee.

All this bonding is great and hopefully it will reflect on the field. Great news about Allen if thats right. Safety is a must regarding having a quality DB there. I still think Saban will put Allen at CB as well and put Allen in the mix.
Ronnie will do fine IMO. An extra yrs experience and the responsibility of being the No1 RB will do Ronnie no harm at all..
