Texans | Looking at the Expansion Draft - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
9:55 PT: The Houston Chronicle reports the Houston Texans' medical and
training staff has already begun sifting through the reports on the players
currently listed in the expansion draft. GM Charley Casserly has started
reviewing contracts along with director of negotiations Dan Ferens and
manager of player information Tom Halligan. Casserly said it's too early for
them to identify a strategy for the expansion draft. The Texans must include
at least 30 players but can take as many as 42. If their listing is smaller than
30, the players they do select must represent at least 38 percent (around
$26M) of their total salary cap. The Texans would ideally like to draft 10 to 15
players, mixing in some high-priced veterans with some young, inexpensive
players. Casserly is giving strong consideration to taking fewer players.
