Was driving home yesterday, and listening to WFAN in NYC. Francessa was on and a caller asked about the Fins. He said that he thinks Sean Payton will be our coach next year, Suh has been horribly mis-used, (he cited Detroit's defense last year with Suh and Fairley, and this year's Detroit D) and that we DO NOT need a major rebuild, just some tweeking in some area's. Also said we have some talent on the team. Thought he had some interesting thoughts, I hope he was right about not having a major rebuild.

I don't think we need a rebuild either, at least not yet. I want to see what this team does with an entirely new coaching staff, and a smart offseason plan. Attack the positions of need. CB OL DE LB, and see what you can produce with the pieces you already have. The offense is almost there if the right system is in place. We've got good-potential WRs, TEs, RBs, and a QB who needs some work but with the right tutelage could improve. He's improved before, so it's not like Tanne can't learn.

The only rebuild we may need is up-top -- Tannenbaum and Hickey's decisions have not paid off this year -- granted, I don't think Philbin would have played the right players anyways, we all know how he was with most rookies.

I don't think we need a major overhaul either. We can have a very good team by targeting the obvious weaknesses and going after the BPA on them first.

For this team to do better we need better scouting of OL. It's really a deal breaker if we don't get it.

I would rather have Campbell than Peyton.
I am not a Hue Jackson fan either (in before Hayden)

I'm fan of Payton .....

If not Payton .....

Patricia or Mcdaniels will do just fine.

If not one of those three ..... Fml

I would love Payton. I do think there is too much competition for him and easier places to win.

I do like Jackson, but I am high on Haley's candidacy too.

Long way to go. I hope Campbell makes a statement in these last 8 games to keep the job....if not, I'm fine with Sean Payton. However there are other good candidates as well....

Langer - I hear you on Campbell, but think Hue could be a great players coach. I think he has learned greatly from his time in Oakland

By the end of the season, Camp will have 12 games as a head coach. Jackson has 16 games experience.
Although I am not 100% sold on Camp, I do believe that he should be extended if the team cannot land a coach with great experience...not named Peyton.
I think this team and fans has a tendency to rush into changes. Giving him another year or two with his staff is worth the time.
just my .02

Payton can't make chicken salad out of this roster, and then you have to spend picks to get him so you'll have yet another no-impact draft. I see the big lie of "not needing a major rebuild" is going to be rammed down the throats of the fan base. You build skyscrapers, you tweak basements - you'd think Ross of all people would know this.

I don't think Francesca really believes it either. I doubt he's losing sleep over the Dolphins overtaking the hometown Jets anytime soon.

I would be very happy with Payton. I think he has a great football mind, it seems were too often behind the curve with our staff in terms of great football minds..

Francesa famously hates the Jets and thinks they're a dysfunctional mess. He's very close friends with Mike Tannenbaum and Bill Parcells so I'm sure he knows what he's talking about.

I have been a long time listener to Francesa, and love how he gets into it with Jets and Met's fans....he seems to be a Yankees and Giant's homer. I would be fine with Payton if things don't work out with Campbell. Payton is pretty innovative and young, unlike the old retreds we have had.
