Disturbing: Of Ted Ginn Jr.'s 134 receiving yards in two games (13 catches), only 1 yard has come after the catch, according to statspass.com. ``He's progressing, but not at the pace you would like to see,'' former Dolphins receiver Nat Moore said. Ginn did not catch two potential touchdown passes Monday, and ``if he is going to be a big receiver, he has to be able to make those catches,'' Moore said. ``He could do a much better job of yards after the catch. You get in the habit where you catch on the sidelines and step out. He's finding more holes, making plays, but not making big plays.''

The confusion at the 3 minute mark was that the play call did not fit the players on the field. IMO, Penny should have called a time out at light speed as soon as he saw that.

On 3rd & 6, Sparano said that it was an either/or call (pass/run) depending on how the D was set up. Same thing at the end of the half. He did agree with the call, or at least that's what he said.

That is deeply disturbing. 1 YAC out of 13 receptions? Unbelievable. Ginn plays like such a *****.

Pen throws his "laser" prior to the Receivers break then the receiver shields the D while he waits for the damn thing to arrive don't blame the WRs YAC on anyone but Penny

You can't blame this on Ginn. Half of Penny's throws are going towards the ground or take an hour to get there.

Not to defend Ginn (and the Ted Ginn family) too much but...if he makes that catch in the dying seconds, even though yes he had two hands on the ball, that's a terrific catch, not a gimme. The defender had position and the ball hung just enough for him to make a play.

And yes, while he's not gaining yards after the catch, he is GAINING YARDS and GETTING OPEN, which is nice to see. Tough to gain a lot of yards on sidelie routes, comebackers and catches over the middle in front of the safeties (not named Gibril Wilson) sometimes too. 11 catches and 108 yds is nothing to sneeze at, not to mention a number of third down grabs late in the game to move the chains. Hey, if Penny makes a better throw in Q1 he has a TD. If P. White hits him against the Falcons it's a TD and a different game. He is progressing folks.

That touches on what I just posted too - the routes and delivery of the ball have a lot to do with that. Honestly, take a look at his receptions and find where he has a lot of room to run?

i say Ginn's last second flub was 50/50 andyman - Ginn arrived long before the ball did and was expecting more contact..., a Veteran probably could have leaned into the DB and made the hard catch or sold pass interference on that play -

Hey I was born in Ottawa...

No Miami receiver is get YAC for the most part. Defense are playing short, because our only serious passing game is short; there is no long passing game. Therefore, defenses play short and tackle the WRs immediatley after catching the ball.

The long pass is needed to stretch the defense to open wholes and lanes.

That's a fair point, to a degree. I watched the game again. Ginn was content to go out of bounds or down without even trying. That's on him, not Penny. One yard on 13 tries is a lack of effort.

Penny keeps it low Ginn's drop in the middle of the field was catchable but again had he caught it zero YAC

I would say by he time the ball arrived he had little room to evade tacklers and usually just dove forward..., he was one arm tackled in the flat..., and thrown to the ground like "a *****-slap" and that's disappointing...

Interesting...Bess has 86 yards receiving and 37 of it is YAC. Camarillo has 31 yards and 11 of it is YAC. Hartline has 36 yards and 6 of it is YAC. Our other WR's have 153 yards and 54 of it is YAC. Hmmm, maybe the ball is just allergic to Ginn.

Ginn's only effective routes have been outs in which he goes directly out of bounds and comebacks in which he immediately falls down or is tackled. What can Penny do when he drops the deep ball?

Your observation is 100% correct.

Penny sends the ball "snail mail" to Ginn and the rest to the receiving corps. They wait for the ball to arrive and the D has enough time to see what is happening and arrive just in time to lay a SMACK on our receivers.

When was the last time that you saw Penny start hitting our receivers in stride? Yeesh! Just does NOT happen.

Forget Ginn for a moment, take a look at Hartline and his receptions. No run after the catch either because he has time to do his nails & read a book before the ball gets to him.

Take a look at Bess. He gets hit in stride a little bit because he is running short patterns and Penny only has to throw the short ball. Problem is, the short crossing route has Bess in traffic accross the middle. Hard to get out of that tangled mass of players alive without getting hit as well.

Penny lacks the arm strength to get the ball to where it has to go WHEN it has to get there.

Ginn was open and created separation MANY times Monday night down the sideline, Penny looked away because he knew it was easier to dunk over the middle.

Penny's stats and completion % looks good, and we have a) no deep threat...... & b) no receiver gets a chance to get hit in stride and capitalize on the separation they got to that point.

Only a matter of time before Dolphins receivers get fed up. How would you like to be Ginn who busts his a** getting open often down the sideline for.....nothing. Penny just looks at him and does a 4 yard dunk pass to Bess instead. Remember pre-season? If Ginn had a sideline deep pass sent his way he had to come back and get it, with the corner now draped over him like a cheap suit.

Frustrating.

Penny is hurting us and is a "development stopper" for Henne.

Even the Jets were rewarded for having the balls to pick a QB high and push him to start. Not to mention Flacco, Ryan, Cutler etc.

Wanna play it "safe" forever? Or do you want to have a chance to be "great".

Gimme "great" anytime.

This "mediocre" boring (will NEVER progress in the playoffs) thing has me pissed off.

I saw Bess make little moves and pick up some extra yards on the same passes. I would be happy if Ginn did the same.

Being fair, he has improved his routes A LOT, and is getting open.
